Of course individuality makes generational generalizations difficult.  But I think a couple of generalizations are true:

1. The younger generations are more afraid of the future than we were.

2.  The younger generations are more collaborative and less individualistic than we were.

1. Why would that be?

2. Is that a good or bad thing?

What are you basing your generalizations on?

Here's another generalization: the older generations are more full of shit than the younger ones.

Nah. Older eat far less and younger are much more obese. Feces is one of their strengths in terms of productivity.

That's a twist. Start with childhood, the older spent their time outdoors playing with friends, the younger are glued to their phones and game monitors. As adults the older fought for unions, joined to produce guns and ammo to defeat the Nazis, the younger are focused on themselves and their self gains.

The younger more collaborative maybe in the sense of communicating with each other worldwide and aware of others. What else? YOu must be thinking of something.

See, I'm in that sweet spot...not old enough to have dementia, not young enough to be ignorant.

Anything important is done by committees, groups, meetings, etc. It’s a way of maintaining anonymity and avoiding individual responsibilities. Groupthink rules.

I never said that about people older than me. That belief is a product of generational thinking younger than me.

@jdb I don’t think that’s right jdb.  Coh is my parents age.  I played for Busch. Scott Gallagher was around then too. One team per age group. You got cut that was it.  The dads in my friends group and teams growing up were ball buster hard asses. Nothing like my friends who are dads today.

im 55 I think it was more my gen that ruined things than coh’s.

1965 and 1966 opened the flood gates…The Great Society. What has followed can trace the beginnings to those years

@co-hoosier baseball lacks the power of the incumbency. Incumbents win in overwhelming numbers. In baseball, being better is enough. In politics, having name recognition and money is far more valuable than better ideas.

His baseball/sports analogy actually destroys his argument.  How often have we seen athletes hang on for too long.  Ripken, Tony Gwynn, etc. Rodgers in football.  Other guys way past their prime who deprive a younger guy of a roster spot and/or a chance to move up.

Bullshit!

Professional sport is performance-based. Rodger's, Gwynn. Ripkin played into the late 30's , early 40's because nobody beat them out for the job...

..'way past their prime'.... In whose eyes?

Stupid...as if sport was some  half-assed zero-sum woke exercise, where some know-nothing decides who should see the field...

Clownish...

If that's how you define modern collaboration. At Microsoft for the top echelon of programmers they long since have been stocking meeting rooms with banquets so they wouldn't go out for 2 hour lunches. That's what I call collaboration.

That's because the prior generations were good for society and this country. Your generation enabled much of the problems, while milking the American tit for all you could.
