He has the resume to be president in landslide dimensions. So what does he do? He kisses Schumer’s ass, he kisses Sharpton’s ass, and he pisses off half the country with his incessant bitching about Trump. He eschewed the risk of creating his own path in the political jungle in favor of following the path of washed up old farts. He cudda had me with a Fetterman message. He shudda read Ike’s autobiography about becoming president.
Kelly isn’t the only example. But he has shown himself to be no better than Schumer and the others you mentioned. People like Kelly keep these old farts in power.

@co-hoosier go bark up a different tree. I graduated college at 22, grad school at 26. Didn't live with my parents since I left for college at 18. Was wealthy by 35 on my own, married another professional, raising kids that are excelling.... There were millions of us out there in the same boat, go look around every city/burb in the country. The amount of highly successful younger people (younger than me, at this point) is significant.
Trying to claim there is no capability or capacity in younger generations is so brain dead boomerish it's difficult to even take this seriously.

@twenty the problem is these aren’t the people flocking to politics. I have a ton of successful buddies with college kids. This is no lie. Eight have kids going to iu. Eight separate families. 7/8 are in Kelley. Smart young kids are going into that shit. They certainly aren’t going into politics. We’re getting the AOCs now. Mamdani. People that should have gone into social work, MSW programs, etc.

@bar-down it's a unique type that would ever get into that game. One would need to be a masochist/egomaniac to go into politics today. Probably always been that way, but some come into it later after success doing something else. But it should be people in their 50s, not their 70s+.
The system does require technocrats and I don't mind seeing some of those people elevated, but they are usually the types that aren't recognizable. Someone like Katie Britt is an example.

His baseball/sports analogy actually destroys his argument. How often have we seen athletes hang on for too long. Ripken, Tony Gwynn, etc. Rodgers in football. Other guys way past their prime who deprive a younger guy of a roster spot and/or a chance to move up.
State judges typically have a mandatory retirement age of 70. Thereafter there’s an expectation of some cognitive decline physical decline decision making speed and there’s a desire to get new blood. Congress should be no different. In office in their 80s is evil. Horrible assholes.

It's not just sports, happens in professional world all the time. Guys that are in their 70s still working because they have nothing else in their life, and would probably die if they retired. Nice people, but the type you have get on a phone call with to tell them how how to edit a word document, or to share their screen on a Teams call.... "Ok Bill, see the 3 dots up there, click on that and then hit share screen.... NO! Not that one! In the other window!"
I agree with Obama but Condoleeza Rice has pushed this for a decade that old people should move aside for younger people in politics. So the idea is not original. Did he mention her name or just use her ideas to make folks think he is on to something? I voted for him but as time moves on I think his time as president looks worse and worse.
The dems rigged their primaries to keep Biden as their candidate so their establishment could remain in charge behind the scenes. I'd imagine Obama was a big part of that behind the scenes crowd. Maybe they should of had real primaries even though they are a joke. Instead they replaced a brain dead candidate with retard who uttered lots of nonsense about nothing.
@sig not sure about that. I think a lot of the establishment Dems didn't want Biden to run again, but if a sitting President is determined to do so, (and guess you can blame Jill for that).... There isn't really a whole hell of a lot you can do other than stay on the train and talk the party line. Trying to oust an incumbent President though a primary battle is a sure fire way to lose in a general election. It obviously blew up in their faces with how it went.
