Sounds like Paxton is cooked and Abbott is probably 50/50. Imagine if the Dems flip TX and FL.
Not happening…just so I have this right. You have Florida and Texas going blue in the Senate and gubernatorial races. Alaska, South Carolina, Kansas, Ohio, Michigan, Nebraska, Kansas, Alaska, Maine going for the Democrats as well in the Senate races. What about Iowa?
Moody wins. Paxton loses. Donalds and Abbott are both 50/50. I'll predict they both win by a point.
SC Senate is a tossup. Nebraska stays R. Iowa who knows. Others go Dem.
Donalds by 6. Abbott wins comfortably. Michigan, Ohio, Texas, Alaska. GOP wins 3 of 4. 2 of 4 possibly.

Your kid would have to stand on her own two feet and develop one herself.. I just think the vast majority of wealth should not be passed down to future generations.
If i wanted my kid to take over my law practice when i die, the kid would have to buy it from the government?
Seems like what a conservative should want.
I assume you’d prefer to do away with all social assistance as well?
Republicans - We must hold our politicians accountable for failing us.
Democrats....

Was there any doubt?
These are not rights of the dead. Wills are made by living people. So is joint tenancy ownership. So are beneficiary designations on insurance policies, bank accounts. and other investments. Government cannot strip that away without serious takings issues.
This idea that govt can just confiscate all of one's property upon death from their family is one of the most un-American ideas I could ever imagine. Elimination of estate tax combined with elimination of stepped up basis is much closer to a reasonable position.
@co-hoosier LOL. Rights of the living. We force the survivors to abide by the wishes of the departed. Whose "rights" are we protecting there?

This is true. These types of ideas certainly run counter to things the vast majority of Americans take for granted.
Whatever. It's a moot point now, anyway. I've already said this a million times, but AI changes everything. The odds of ever achieving some kind of egalitarian, meritocratic utopia are long to the point of infinity now. Wealth disparity will be dramatically widened and entrenched. McM's basic income will be the tool we use to keep a capitalistic veneer on things, but we're really heading inexorably to true oligarchy. Which might leave us all happier, who knows? Perhaps freed from the rat race, we'll all be perfectly happy spending our short, meaningless lives pursuing whatever fancies cross our minds.
@goat for the 10th time an AI productivity boom that produces abundance would equal an extremely high living standard for everyone. Not just for the oligarchy. We all get to bang Sydney Sweeney and ride on the yachts.
Lol my ass. The right to contract is in the constitution. Even contracts that speak to post-mortem conditions.
@snarlcakes no chance. Human greed won’t allow it. The Gods Must Be Crazy
Cook moves Michigan Senate from toss-up to Lean Dem.
Kalshi: 74% chance Dems win the Senate.
Prediction market traders see nearly 75% chance Democrats win Senate
@jdb I'm not ignoring anything. I accurately pointed out that all estate taxes account for only about 1% of government revenue, while property taxes account for 11-12%.
While true, how do you think about the allocation of those dollars? Property taxes are local in nature. The Estate Tax is Federal and potentially State-related. Generally, wealth taxes are thought of in a similar vein, although some municipalities and other locales have considered proposing such a tax. You may not care, but much of the frustration with taxes has long been the tangibility of the benefit(s), which tends to be easier to trace with localized dollars.
