Your kid would have to stand on her own two feet and develop one herself.. I just think the vast majority of wealth should not be passed down to future generations.
If i wanted my kid to take over my law practice when i die, the kid would have to buy it from the government?
Seems like what a conservative should want.
No, it's not a conservative position to build a business and then have the government take it away and give the money to someone else.
@twenty I'm not arguing for anything. Mark said he thought taxes should be 50/50 income/consumption, and I pointed out he forgot wealth taxes, and we had to cram that in there somewhere, and I mentioned off-hand that as of right now, the only significant wealth tax we have is property tax, since estate tax state and federal is a pittance of government spending. But I guess even mentioning wealth taxes brought out the attacks.
@bradstevens And if CO.H wants to give her a boost, he can hire her straight out of law school, pay her well, and groom her to take over. Teach her the ropes, show her how to make the practice even more successful than he did.
We should incentivize setting your kids up to succeed. We should not incentivize simply bequeathing success upon them as a gift.
MAGAs are so sensitive.
Says the guy who proudly brags that anybody who challenges the 2020 election will never get your Republican vote
Anyone that claims the 2020 election was stolen is a moron or a liar who thinks his voters are morons. That candidate is hereby disqualified and will not get my vote for any race. That isn’t being sensitive, it’s being done with this embarrassing nonsense within the party and wanting it purged.
Trump's closing midterms argument, delivered at the Reflecting Pool, was focused on his DC renovation projects. Could he possibly be any more out of touch and tone-deaf? No one gives a shit about his beautification of DC. It doesn't put food on anyone's table, doesn't fill up the gas tank, or help Americans make ends meet. How can this pitch possibly improve his party's prospects? (It can't).
He talked about renovating a "massive piece of pool." Wtf. He's struggling to articulate a simple concept.
Sounds like Paxton is cooked and Abbott is probably 50/50. Imagine if the Dems flip TX and FL.

Paxton is . . .

He's a dumbass of the highest order. Did you see his thing about making a private golf course? That's so messed up. East Potomac Park is a cool area that is frequently used by people and a number of races run around it. There is already a public course out there, but Trump wants to cut down tons of trees to make a private course. I'm not sure what this does to further anything - other than giving Trump another place to play golf over the next two years. It'll be a real shame if he's able to go through with this.
"Donald Trump took command of the Republican Party by, at least in part, repudiating the legacy of the last Republican president, George W. Bush.
"Yet now on the eve of his second midterm as president, Trump finds himself in Bush’s shoes. Trump, like Bush in 2006, is an unpopular president presiding over an unpopular war who is staring down the barrel of losing control of both chambers of Congress just two years after his greatest electoral triumph."

@ohio-guy He's already cut down 400+ trees.
"The government gave notice at 4:55 p.m. on the Friday before the Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day three-day weekend that it would commence cutting trees at the course over weekend. It began work early the next morning, cutting down more than 400 trees and drawing the ire of Judge Reyes and sparking a flurry of court activity to determine if the government has misled the court."
The Judge has now required the government to provide 10-days notice before proceeding with any other "modifications."
He's such a f*cking asshole.

What Trump ran on is very popular. What he's done is not. Nobody wants a 3rd term of George W Bush.
@goat that’s really interesting. Eliminates a big incentive behind work, creating…. It’s to leave something behind. Are you saying spend it all on 911s and paralegals or pass it on during your life to your offspring. Gov seems about the worst recipient I can imagine
@dbmhoosier no one to blame but Trump. No one wanted what he’s done. Left or right.
