No idea. I would bet most Muslims in America perfectly understand that other people around them don't share their religion and fine with how they are dressed. If not then they likely wouldn't live here
We have a Muslim family in my neighborhood (mom is white). To my knowledge, she doesn't mind being covered nor does she mind that other people aren't covered. It was her choice to marry a Muslim man and practice that religion. Wasn't forced.
The juiced socialist movement shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Young people can’t find jobs, and AI is an increasing threat to employment. The middle class is shrinking while the wealthy are making money like never before. Millions of average Joes believe no one is looking out for their financial interests. Trump hasn’t helped that perception with a number of recent comments that suggest he doesn’t care about people of modest means except as seat-fillers at his rallies, and on Election Day.
I’m not arguing that socialism is the answer, but it’s not hard to understand that this climate creates an opening for politicians like AOC and Mamdani.
I think there's a lot of truth in this portion of your post. It's why most of these new socialists are from the highly educated class. That's whose ox is getting gored now.
I also think the same type of dynamic explains why Trump became popular and the formation of MAGA in 2016. Note, Hillary wasn't woke. The pushback was against the establishment of both parties who had contributed to hollowing out jobs and the middle class for non-college people.
Both of these phenomena, though, might just be large multi-national economic phenomena, and it's quite possible neither political party could solve the issue--then or now.
But I think it's also important to see that today's version of the DSA--the woke version, if you will--did not appear out of nowhere. This toxic mix of ideologies has been percolating on college campuses for two to three decades. Real academics should have stamped it out in its infancy, but they enabled it or ignored it, and we are all going to pay the price if these people get into true positions of power. Because unlike the MAGA folks, these people are pretty smart and very dedicated to their philosophy. They have a roadmap and are going to try to use it. I'm afraid that DSA'ers will build things into the system that MAGA could not (MAGA is good at tearing things down, not so much as creating new govt. institutions or norms) and it will be too hard to eliminate it.
Pretty patent that the Dem party is controlled by a 36 year old bartender and a 34 year old African studies rapper. Not an ounce of professional experience between the two of them. Know nothing about business, creating jobs, etc. Hardcore socialists. Not social insurance. Socialists. When people say who they are believe them. Means of production etc.
At what point will you Dems wake up? It’s obvious they want open borders and little election regulations because they want the poorest, immigrants, people with nothing and who are desperate to flood the country and vote for them. Your average normal white male dreams of creating something, building something. They don’t want that.
Their attacks on billionaires I only partially get. Massive gaps in wealth isn’t healthy. But think of a guy like Bezos. He has a million and a half people employed. He created those jobs. What’s more the real number is probably what? Ten million? People he has allowed to use his platform to start a business and sell products. Mamdani and AOC have not created a single job.
Trump is bad news. But not in the same universe as scary as the Dem party today. Any of you Dems that believe in this country need to get activated. Forget Trump. Fix your ridiculous party or we’re going to end up with a country no one wants other than dumb and dumber leading the party
