Hypocrisy is a so prevalent in MAGA culture it's essentially a requirement. It all starts at the top of the MAGA trash heap.As a reminder, in the last 6 months, Donald Trump has:
- Posted a threat to commit genocide against an entire country
- Celebrated the deaths of Robert Mueller and Rob Reiner
- Called for the arrest of military personnel for posting a video that contained completely factual statements and said they should be charged with "Seditious behavior, punishable by death".
- Said in a NYE post that his rivals should rot in hell
Not a single one of those was a "joke".

My personal rule is, if you can dish it out, you have to be able to take it also. Trump is quite possibly the biggest hypocrite to ever hold public office in the history of man.

I am not aware of anyone, certainly not me, "defending" Kimmel, beyond some stating an opinion that he doesn't deserve to be FIRED by ABC.
Nobody, including me, insisted that his"joke" landed at all or was utter hilarity.
What we have had here that ticks you off immensely is a long lineup of people correcting your inaccurate description as the joke being a call to Trump's assassination. It was an age-old joke based on the rich old man/young trophy wife combo, where the trophy wife is likely there to grin and bear it to reap a windfall in the near future, when rich hubby dies of old age, long before she's even near retirement age herself.
I am quite sure you could go through old clips of comedians way back to Groucho Marx riffing on that theme. It's OBVIOUS, other than to people so invested in defending everything Trump that they no longer THINK.

Kimmel crossed a line. Joking about the death of a loved one is not a good- natured or amusing insult one associates with a “roast”. Especially when said loved one had been a target for murder.
I said Kimmel should be fired. Period. That is not “overwrought fainting-couch level response” to a pretty standard joke on Kimmel's part. Nor is it “nothing but outrage, condensed and purified.” In fact your response fits that bill.
