A Republican-led Senate committee investigated “Russiagate” and found that the Russian government did indeed attempt to influence the 2016 election in favor of Trump, but didn’t collaborate with the Trump campaign to do so.
Because media and politicians go hand in hand. Both sides lie and embellish to the bigger the lie, the more they get noticed and rewarded. Look at Adam Schiff. Made up lie after lie after lie about Russiagate. Now he's a Senator. Crockett figured out the playbook real early and adds race baiting into it.

Kimmel was just supplying misinformation to divide us. Anyone with half a brain could reasonably come to the conclusion it was not a MAGA shooter.

I have probably watched Kimmel 3-4 times in my life. Not a fan at all. Obviously, I won't miss him.
But Kimmel's remarks were in the timeframe where there was lots of discussion about the potential Groyper connection. Piecing that together with the family's political leanings, their Mormon beliefs, and gun ownership made it an understandable though incorrect leap.
And Kimmel's assertion that MAGA was "making hay" off the belief that it was a liberal plot (as suggested by Trump himself and by the opening post in the Kirk thread) was certainly true. From the moment the shot rang out it was "look at what THEY did", as if it was clearly some organized plot.

Jimmy Kimmel's employer has every right to fire him for pretty much any reason whatsoever, including for him saying things on air that they don't agree with or that puts them in a bad light.
But the clear possibility exists that the reason they sidelined him is not for what he said but rather that it was in in direct response to the clear and specific threats made by the FCC and even by Trump himself, when he promised after the Colbert cancellation that Kimmel would be up next.
There is a credible case for state-sanctioned if not state-directed censorship.
