@shooter did they run afoul of fcc regs?  if so that's life.  pull the woke idiot.  if he's not what abc wants to present, as anyone with an ounce of sense wouldn't want to present, pull the woke idiot.  if abc stands by him and he hasn't run afoul of fcc regs tell the fcc to f off.  challenge it.  they're worth a couple hundred billion

My opinion on this is consistent:

If you want to make jokes that are pushing the envelope, don't complain when you push too far and suffer consequences.

With that said, I never want to hear a right winger complain about "cancel culture" every again because the right appears to have embraced the concept with gusto.

Now I see Facebook friends posting I stand with Jimmy Kimmel memes.

Jesus Tap Dancing Christ.

Sometimes I think we’re to stupid as a species to survive and it’s a goddamned miracle we’ve made it this far.

I'm starting to pull for the aliens to show themselves...

The anger leading to cancellation of some when we were going through the MeToo/ LGBT/ BLM hysteria was misguided and based on myths. People were “cancelled for things that were okay 5 minutes ago.

The anger the right now has over some people reactions to Charlie Kirk is much more righteous. People are being cancelled for revealing themselves to be abhorrent people.

This is the key distinction to draw before opening your mouth to say:

“Well I guess the right is okay with cancel culture now, derp”

The difference is that the left wants to cancel people for saying things that are objectively true and that the vast majority of people agree with.  Like saying that grown men shouldn't be in a bathroom with a young girl or that there are only 2 genders.  Your side is cancelled for saying the most vile and crazy things that almost no one agrees with.

And Kimmel wasn't cancelled.  By all accounts his ratings were terrible and Disney had been looking for an excuse to get rid of him for years.

@carramrod the people doing the canceling on the left are the woke freak weirdos in Hollywood and on campuses. The blacks to be honest I don’t think care if blm Floyd was a false narrative or not. They don’t give a shit about Floyd. Hell they kill each other every day. They just want an excuse to riot and wreck shit.  Let off steam.  They feel fckd over and frustrated and it gets pent up so Floyd is just an excuse to let it out

When people show you who they are, believe them.

FIFY

As much as you don't want to admit it, the truth is that it is not a "vast majority" of people anymore.  It might have been a vast majority 25 years ago, but the times are changing.  You may not like it.  You may not understand it.  But to ignore the fact that the number of people with that opinion counter to yours is growing year by year will only lead to more anger and violence perpetuated by both sides.

@mrhighlife I don’t like any of the Hollywood crowd

separate the art from the artist. Hollywood people are all weird as shit. Even the ones I agree with politically, or otherwise, I'd probably strongly dislike in real life.

James Woods is coo coo to me when it comes to politics but he is an outstanding actor. I don't agree with much of Clint Eastwood's beliefs but he is one of my favorite actors ever.

Remember this gem?

From something someone THOUGHT they recollected his DAD might have said...30 years ago...when he just came to the US From Ireland...referring to a stack of wood or something...

We're finally emerging from this woke stupidity that has held the country hostage for the last 10 years or so.

Elon buying Twitter.

Trump dodging that bullet.

Thank God.

Kimmel is just so full of obvious hate why would anyone want to watch him.  Unless they are the same.  Don’t cancel the show. Just replace him. Find someone uplifting. Inspiring. Who would I reach out to?

Kirk Cameron

Gun Ownership? Wth? This is America. Everyone owns a gun.

Far from it, 45% of Republicans and 20% of Democrats. If you count paintball,  laser tag, or rubber band, than I do.

https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/07/24/key-facts-about-americans-and-guns/

Gallup had it 47%-19%. Either way, not even a majority own a gun.
