@carramrod it should be shocking.  But it’s not.

@hoopsdoc If he did, then kudos.  I honestly don't recall what I said if anything on the old board on the subject.  That's because I am not outraged.  It's wrong and awful.  But it's been going on for decades and won't stop. And like I said, at least Trump is open about it.  We were just lucky to learn about Biden.

Again, my point to Hickory wasn't if what Trump did ok or not.  It was that he is just as big of hypocrite as those he points at.  I can guarantee he never posted his outrage over what Obama did to Rosen, or Biden and social media.

For me, Trump being open about it is worse. He needs to shut his damn mouth. It’s a bad precedent to set and when the pubs lose again, as they inevitably will, it’s just that much easier for the next guy.

And all that guys supporters will say “well, Trump did it and you didn’t care then.”

... a significant portion of the American left is much more exercised about Jimmy Kimmel being suspended than Charlie Kirk’s assassination?

concerning, if true

Also concerning is that a significant portion of the American right is much more exercised about what some talk show entertainer (who they admit they haven't watched in a decade) said, than about any one of the many instances of kids being gunned down in schools, including on the same day as the tragic, awful Kirk shooting that was roundly denounced by every politician I saw go on the record, from either party.

@shooter personally I’m kind of overall the school stuff as a national/politician issue.  Local communities have the resources to do way better. They don’t care.  They care more about football.

Well, I guess we will just disagree.  I like transparency.  I like knowing versus not.  I like going to bed knowing I got f@cked versus waking up the next morning wondering if I did get f@cked.

Ted Cruz Compares FCC Chair to Mafia Boss Over His Kimmel Warning

https://www.newsweek.com/ted-cruz-fcc-chair-carr-jimmy-kimmel-abc-2132695

Speaking on his podcast Friday, Cruz said, "That's right out of Goodfellas. That's right out of a mafioso coming into a bar going 'Nice bar you have here. It'd be a shame if something happened to it.'"

The Texas senator added that he agrees with Carr that Kimmel was misleading the American public with his remarks and was also glad to have him off the air, but did not approve of the government's handling of the situation.

Finally got my gold badge. Suck it, @mcm666.

Couple more interesting wrinkles.

Nexstar, which is the largest operator of ABC affiliates, has a merger going before FCC approval. Maybe that weighed in their decision making, wanting to stay in this admins good graces. Their leadership vehemently denies that.

Sinclair Broadcasting, the second largest owner of ABC affiliates, has notoriously Conservative ownership. Their reaction to Kimmel was all most certainly organic and not crammed down by the FCC.

Simply put, if ABC or Nexstar made the Kimmel decision solely based on Kimmel's comments during his monologue and some subsequent refusal on his part to atone for those comments on air then that is their right to do so.

That said, if they came to this decision based on pressure/duress from the Trump Administration and/or the FCC...well that is all kinds of fucked up.

And every conservative on here, even MAGA conservatives, should have the fortitude...no fuck that, the temerity...to call it what it is. And I get it, the left has been in a constant state of apoplectic bed shitting for the better part of a decade about all things Trump and as such our conservative default setting has morphed into defensive overdrive when it comes to criticism. But if the latter actually happened, well it's wrong, they are wrong, he is wrong and we don't even have to reach deep down...we know it too.

@all4you yourself and with the recent @twenty flare up.

I’ve had my fill of people extolling how principled they are and how they don’t let politics color their view of what is right and wrong.

Come down off the cross both of you. We need the wood. Hand over your objectivity badges while you’re at it. alas the policing you’re attempting to do was not asked for by any of us.

Obama called up Disney and had Roseanne fired.  We are tired of this.  What's good for us is also good for them.  It's the only way they will ever learn.

So says Roseanne.

@dbmhoosier all this fighting over Kimmel. Some rich Hollywood ahole. What he knows about politics could fit on a fingernail.

I wish for once we could all get together and just mourn Charlie. A few days without bickering.  Hell I’d love to see a Bloomington Turning Point Chapter. In the name of the water cooler
