@twenty @goat

We are down that road.  Have been for years.  Now at least Trump is open and public about it and the strong arming is not hidden in the shadows with no public knowledge.

@twenty My head may be in the ground but yours is up your ass if you are just now realizing this direction is concerning.

Guess everyone forgot about James Rosen.  Guess everyone forgets about Obama spying on the AP.  This crap happens under every President who doesn't like criticism.  Hell, Biden started a new Department of "Misinformation" to limit speech. I could probably find things Bush, Clinton, etc did as well.

So what's new about Trump?  That he publically says what other President's did in the shadow? OMG! How dare he be open and transparent!

If it's a problem then you call it out, regardless. Just like the Republicans did in the past. You sure as hell don't respond... Well those guys did X, ,Y, Z..... Goody for Trump.

It's bullshit and just shows how pathetically spineless and tribal the vast majority of this country is.

I mainly quit posting on here as I tired of reading the same intellectually bankrupt arguments, ad nauseum. You can predict the responses on any topic before even opening a thread. It's a microcosm of the entire nation.

The Dems will never stop doing it until it starts happening to them.  Goose & gander.

@twenty First, I was pointing out to Hickory how he is just as big of a hypocrite as any conservative. That was my point.

Second, I am probably not real outraged because 1) it's happened for decades, and 2) nobody is ever held accountable.

Were you outraged about Obama and Rosen?  Biden and social media companies?  Did you start threads about what disgrace those 2 were?  Did you organize some sort of call to action?

Hell no you didn't.  You probably just pointed your finger at everyone on the board for being an ostrich, then went on with your life, forgetting what Obama, Biden, Trump or whoever did.  We all do that.

So step off your soapbox.  You are as much of a worthless, do nothing poster as the rest of us.  Just be happy you have a place to go to be around friends. Cheers!

I don’t think Trump us mad about what Kimmel said about Kirk/MAGA  He’s mad about what he said about Trump after that

I agree with this. My guess is Trump isn't really a sympathetic guy and he's privately way over talking about Kirk. It's no secret he's long targeted comedians/late night talk show hosts who make fun of him - the receipts are in the years and year of social media posts.

If he can use the political climate/sentiment surrounding Kirk's assassination to put his thumb on the scale to get rid of his adversaries, he's going to do it.

Now that the ball is rolling, I'd guess we're weeks away from Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon from saying something that gets them suspended too.

Nice. Put your money where your mouth is. I'll bet you $1000 neither Seth Myers or Jimmy Fallon are suspended in the next month.

Twenty called out Biden’s BS when it was happening on the old board. I distinctly remember that.

And he’s got a point. If it was awful when Joe did it, it should be awful now.

I don't watch any of those guys... I've never been into those shows. I liked Letterman way back in the day. Kimmel has never been entertaining to me. I did like Colbert when he was on Comedy Central, thought he was really funny....but that was a different kind of show

I was stunned at the average age of a Colbert viewer:  68!

It's network TV at 11:30 PM. Who the fuck did you think watched it?

You?

I'll watch clips from time to time. I couldn't tell you the last time I stayed up to watch a late show live. Kimmel can be funny. I like Seth Meyers. I've always thought Fallon was just OK.

@hoopsdoc If he did, then kudos.  I honestly don't recall what I said if anything on the old board on the subject.  That's because I am not outraged.  It's wrong and awful.  But it's been going on for decades and won't stop. And like I said, at least Trump is open about it.  We were just lucky to learn about Biden.

Again, my point to Hickory wasn't if what Trump did ok or not.  It was that he is just as big of hypocrite as those he points at.  I can guarantee he never posted his outrage over what Obama did to Rosen, or Biden and social media.

Let's be clear, the POTUS has clearly laid out the policy that speech excessively critical of the president and his movement will be penalized by the government, and if it were up to his preference, it would be prohibited altogether.

That's not to say that past presidents have not on occasion made similar missteps unaligned with our country's values. Nixon, for example. But none to my knowledge have so openly and unashamedly been so careless, blunt, bold, and frankly un-American about it

Can you point me to this policy? Is it written down in some fashion where it’s binding?

Or just the latest case of jumping on Trump’s verbal diarrhea?

Should us right wingers be at all concerned that a significant portion of the American left is much more exercised about Jimmy Kimmel being suspended than Charlie Kirk’s assassination?
