@oneeyedundertaker What service did you serve in and when? My guess is you didn't meet mental, physical or intellectual standards. Wrong?

A couple of fellow vets from Army and Air Force sent that same Bee bit to me. We give each other shit like that all the time. We’re veterans and it’s done in good humor. You’re a landlubber and slimey polywog non-vet. Nothing wrong with that, but you posting that is much different than a vet doing it.

This could almost be in the Onion as written. Forged by the T: Pentagon launches testosterone screening program for troops

I’m glad you received it as it was intended for you to.  I would never send this to or post this for anyone I have an ounce of respect for…

No service. I knew you couldn't meet requirements or have hacked it if you squeezed through.

Now, stop posting in this thread. It's a serious thread and not for you.

Trump has been the best President since Reagan.

That's a joke, right?

Of course not.  He's better than Obama, Bush, and Biden. You could make an argument that Clinton was better, but he was helped by a GOP Congress that kept him in check.

Biden and Trump are about equally terrible, in much different ways, but very equal in gutter level history.

Obama and Bush were both exponentially better than either of those pathetic geriatrics.

Clinton was better than any of them.

That's something shooter would say.

When Bush left office he took a GOP majority and handed Democrats a supermajority for the first time since who knows.  I don't care to google it.  Obama took his supermajority and quickly lost it after enacting Obamacare, which allowed Trump to win eventually and flipped Congress back to the GOP. Biden was such a disaster it only took him 4 years to f#ck it all up.  And allow Trump to win the popular vote for the first time in a couple decades and Congress.   If the GOP gets trounced in 26 and 28, you'll have argument that Trump deserves to be in the bottom dwellers.  Until then it's a really silly thing to say.

You think a guy who bagged $1B profit from a crypto pump and dump scheme coming into office is a good president. You are a hopeless fool. The base of Idiocracy.

What’s foolish is thinking that’s what makes him a good or bad President.

Foolish to think that being the most corrupt President in the history of the country is relevant?

Of course he’s a dirtbag & a buffoon. I believe his performance is poor in many areas.  But illegal immigration, fraud, soft on crime justice systems, DEI policies, woke indoctrinations, etc. actually impact the present & future of my family & are what I care about most. Trump & his cronies making what you have called “rounding errors” does not, or if it does, it’s to a much lesser degree than the above.  I sure wish it would have been DeSantis, or Rubio, or Vance,  or just about any other Republican, but it wasn’t.  If you’d rather have more of what I list above than Trump’s corruption, so be it, but I’d like to hear the arguments on how anything in the article is going to impact my son’s future more than what I listed…

& NEWSFLASH!!!  Most of our government is corrupt, or do you think all of the people in Congress get rich from their salary?

Edit:  I’d disagree with that article, in that Joe Biden refusing to perform his sworn duty & disregarding the laws on immigration to take away voting power & representation from US citizens to benefit only his party is a greater level of corruption.  Look at the cost, in lives, $$’s, etc….

So, if Iran gains Hormuz you still think Iraq was worse?

Yes.

@bradstevens Iraq is a very messy and costly success story. Something that is better now by far than 20 years ago. And will be even better 20 years from now. Trump will leave no such legacy. Don't be so short sighted.

I don't think you're accurately tallying up all the costs and consequences, known and potentially unknown, from the Iraq invasion, so I guess I'd say you're the one being short sighted. Are you saying you'd do that again if you had the chance?  I'm not buying that.

Plus, how do you know Iran won't be better off 20 years from now and then 20 years after that with the killing of Khameni and others at the top, or some other unintended consequence?

Do you think a corrupt president can ever be "better" than a non-corrupt one?

You say Bush was exponentially better than Trump and Biden.  I don't think Bush had any real corrupt dealings; Trump obviously has many.  And Bush was, and is, at heart a decent man; Trump is a petty narcissist.

Yet the Bush administration response to 9/11 led to much more damage across the world, to US interests, and to the US economy than anything Trump has done. Would Trump have invaded Iraq in '03? Doubtful, although he probably would have done something else that was chaotic. Plus, if you think Presidents have major responsibilities for the state of the economy, compare when Bush came into office vs. when he left 8 years later. Woof.  So Bush wins on composure, following past institutional norms, and various soft measurements that I, too, think are important (and vastly underrated by Trump supporters).  But on some more hard and objective measures, I think Bush did far, far worse.

By the way, I think this Iran War is probably the worst policy decision Trump has made (yes, even worse than tariffs) and yet, it will probably be nowhere near as disastrous as Bush's decision to invade and nation build in Iraq.

It was costly and chaotic, but toppling Saddam after 9/11 reminded the world what the cost is for attacking the US.  Almost didn't matter Iraq was barely involved in 9/11 -- the other players in the region who had hijackers on the planes got the message.  Saudi Arabia and UAE saw the light, became reliable partners.  The new alignment also brought us together on Iran, which was was pretty well boxed in after Syria fell and Russia pulled back.  Israel also found lots of common ground with neighbors under the new US-led pecking order.

As crazy as it sounds, and despite all the lives lost and money spent, something huge had to be done.  That was the vibe, and there hasn't been anything like 9/11 since.  George W. will always be alright with me.

Well, that's certainly one version.  Here's another:

I agree with this for now, but we also have the benefit of the 20 year hindsight.  If we end up having to put boots on the ground in Iran and spend a decade there, the costs and consequences will have to be reevaluated.

100%. I dont't think Trump has the stomach for that, though.

For those who think the Iraq war and nation building was a success, why wouldn't you want the same success in Iran?  Shouldn't you be pushing for boots on the ground there?

Just FYI for those that remember Bing. He's stationed in the Middle East right now in command of an Air Force unit, and he's safe, and so are his people. I emailed with him today.
