There are a lot of single issue voters. There are a lot of people that like to use labels to define…MAGA, conservative, principled Republican…yada yada yada…Hobbs may win but it’s not because Biggs is a bad candidate and neither was Schweikarth. I understand a self-described conservative Republican voting for Schweikarth but voting for Hobbs is not conservative. A “principled conservative” at that
It’s not a single issue with MAGA. It’s the entire culture and it needs to be crushed or it will destroy the GOP completely. Biggs’ nomination undoubtedly increased Hobbs’ chance of winning, just as Lake’s nomination resulted in Hobbs’ election. MAGA isn’t likable and their popularity is waning quickly. @aloha-hoosier I wouldn't really call Andy Biggs MAGA... He's pretty far right, probably closer to Thomas Massie and Chip Roy. He opposed all COVID spending when Trump was in office, for example. He opposes basically every spending bill. He's not really a Trump lap dog, and has been quite a pain in the ass for House Republican leadership. I believe he was in the small gang that took McCarthy down.
I don't think he'll perform too well in a statewide election in a purple state in a difficult cycle for Republicans. He's also kind of a boring, cold fish, and I kind of doubt Trump will lend too much help. Arizona is a state full of people from somewhere else (like you) for the most part, so kind of difficult to predict general elections. But the right wing politics in Arizona can be pretty loony tunes when it comes to primaries.
