I see where today a TN judge gave Sam Alexis a temporary injunction to play a 5th season. I don't know if that means it'll stick and he'll be crucial added post depth but if so, that would be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Got a spot and 500 grand for you Sam!

Waiting the outcome of the roster size lawsuit. Irreparable harm if it is capped at 15.

New limit for number of players on the floor at the same time will be 6 players.

Right now, the path is clear for him to return. IU has a spot and that seems logical. However, these injunctions, specifically the one out of Colorado that granted the entire HS class of 2022 eligibility, have lit a fire under the NCAA as well as the Big Ten and SEC to back the Protect College Sports Act.

The Big Ten and SEC voted tonight to support it and it could go to the floor before Congress goes on recess until Sept. 14 next Friday.

If it passes, it would likely give the NCAA the authority enforcement future rules. It sounds like no matter what the 2022 players should be eligible.

Side bar: The 5 for 5 rule should always have grandfathered in the 2022 class.

@yothn I hope he comes back. We need something besides a project 5 to protect against injury and foul trouble!

@iu-bud Have to factor in the competition, but he looked great in Peru. Certainly in shape coming out of OK City camp.

Sam was my favorite player last year. Others may have had better stat lines but no one played harder and no one looked like he gave a shit more than Sam.

(Good to see you, Bud. Now throw Sammy a bone and subscribe.)

@unclemark Sam was always the guy I wanted to see one more year.  Him and Sherrell will be an awesome front court with the tower thrown in every now and then.

@cavanagh I think Alexis is capable, but I don't think he's jumping Samet as a starter short of injury. Heck it took 60% of the year last year for CDD to play him over Bailey.

@kkott I don’t know enough about TT, I do know Sam in year 2 will be a real good role player.  He should get 15-20 mins easy if he’s on this roster.

If he is added he becomes backup to Yig at 5 instead of Sherrell? Which keeps Sherrell almost exclusively at 4 this year. The person most likely impacted in minutes will probably be Sisley who would have been the 4 when Sherrell shifted to 5. Who knows, Alexis may also be used at 4... we'll see.

It seemed obvious that CDD was trying to get his money's worth out of Bailey and was stubborn enough to think Bailey would eventually break out. By the time he realized how wrong he'd been, the season was pretty much shot. Hopefully he's learned his lesson.
