@arioznahoosier4554 We'll have a pretty good idea if the fanbase is back by midseason. I couldn't believe I was at a Senior Night Celebration game and the place was mostly empty.
I would think so if they can show on the court thing are going to be improved enough that they will not just barely make the ncaa. If it starts to look like last year of an 11-9 type record the fan excitement probably wont change much.
I don't know if you're dense, senile or something else. I hope it's just an act.I guess IU has the only toxic fan base in the USA. All I ever here is how toxic we are and the expectations are just too much for any normal coach. We literally gave two guys 8 years to make 2 ncaa tourneys and that is considered toxic and unrealistic expectations? LOL.

Yawn

Don't take this the wrong way, but I reckon Senior Night is just another in a long list of things that just aren't gonna be what they once were. I mean with NIL and the portal, what are the chances of having kids (other than walk ons) in your program for more than a year or two, and what does Senior Night really mean to them or the fans at that point? The sooner we stop viewing college athletics through the lens of what used to be and instead view it for what it is, the better off we'll be...on too many levels to list.
A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"
I agree with some others that we should put the Dusty thing to bed. We can argue for eternity why he's not at IU, but it doesn't matter; he's the (National Championship winning) coach at Michigan ... and will be for quite a while, I'd imagine.

but it is usually the last home game of the season and usually means something from a competition standpoint
@hoosiers94 Yep, that's the more concerning thing. Last game home game of the year against a conference opponent... half-full arena? That's not good.

There will be a generation that grows up with NIL and paying players huge salaries and thinks its great. Just like another NBA to them. But I do think for most of us that grew up watching college pre nil it will never be the same. We still watch but you dont know these guys anymore or watch them come together for four years as a class. That whole connection is long gone. I mean you might have more of a connection to NBA players and least most of them are with the same team for years.
I don't think Michigan's fanbase is any less toxic. There is judgement anywhere.
But you see, apparently at Michigan he can coach there without living near there. Because if he coached at Indiana the crowd with pitchforks and torches can just march up the hill since we are close by. Or something.
It's fun watching people trying to "solve the mystery" of why May didn't become IU's coach. It's much like all the British police procedurals my wife makes me watch on Britbox -- full of likely suspects, twists and turns, and red herrings. At least those shows eventually come to a conclusion, and the mystery is solved. I doubt that will be the case with the Mystery of Dusty May.
yep! It’s pretty easy really. The fan base, the admin (the last 30 yrs), the product on the floor…. Have all sucked.
and again, I call it “The Myles, Brand of leadership”
If men were any more stupid, we would have breed for the extinction of women. Proof yet again that WE are the best thing they have going for them.
Bigger Indiana Coaching Miss?
Dusty May
Or
Knute Rockne
Portal closes to any more entrants after today (April 21). Looks like a number of players with no remaining eligibility have gone in to test the possibility of the NCAA enacting the 5 years of eligibility to play 5 seasons rule.
Looking for clarification.
Did they change the rule where grad transfers can swap schools anytime?
Also, regarding the Florida and Todd Golden situation. When coaches exit, all players are portal eligible for like 30 days right?
