Is he doctor shopping for his Dramamine prescription?
I think we need another QUALITY big. I'm a little worried about the guy from SMU. I'm not sure he's going to be able to provide us with the mins/quality we need to be competitive. IDK if there are any really nice Big-Man pickups still in the portal, or available from overseas, but I think our Portal efforts, while admirable and better than last year, are not sufficient just yet.

I agree. Also need a bigger lankier wing that can shoot decent and another knock down shooter. Not sure what they are waiting for..maybe some Euros?
Note to board. Woodson is gone. Dusty Fivehead May is not IUs coach, and never will be.
Let. It. Go.

[/quote Maybe they were waiting for the portal to close and see who all entered before spending more $$?
@arioznahoosier4554 Just curious, so you don't cheer for the football team? Personally, I think NIL is IU's best chance to regain relevance in bball. The "old way" hasn't been working for over 20 years for us. We basically just lost an entire roster, and have signed what looks to me like a hihgly competitive roster in a week thanks to NIL. Plus, at the end of the day, I'm glad these kids are finally able to make some coin off the dollars they've been producing for the schools. I think it could use guard rails, but selfishly, I think it's helping our school way more than most.
@redandrowdy Not sure why you say that about the kid from SMU; he's been pretty productive in a solid league already. Moves well for a big man. The guy he has me hoping he can become is Mara, and he's certainly got a better resume than Mara did before heading to UM.
All quiet on the portal front. Would like another big, a wing that can shoot it, or maybe a backup PG, preferably Sophomores.
Yigitoglu looks pretty fierce to me. Does he ever shoot regular shots? His highlights are full of dunks and passes. He gets up quick! Looks like a smart player.
We need some role player defenders and foul absorbers, help if one if a decent big. But as a starter Yigitoglu looks like he will own it.

ok Boss.
We do need to wait until Dusty May goes and coaches in the NBA a few years before we start the annual 'he's confirmed as coming to Indiana' talk and tracking the planes. He's much younger than Brad Stevens, so we have time.

DeVries, Carr and company will complete the basketball roster in their due time. I am guessing the next player additions will be surprises as they were with the last two adds (Yigitoglu & Lindsay).
The staff demonstrated a plan with the recruitment of the initial 6 portal players and I expect meaningful completion of the plan with the final adds.

Is Davidson also known as Lindsay?
Sounds like we may be trying to get Emeka Opurum, the 7 footer from Auburn who hit the portal last minute.
Auburn center Emeka Opurum entered the portal very late and he could be a good option in IU's hunt for frontcourt depth. Opurum was offered by the Hoosiers when he transferred up from Butler Community College last offseason. He was the Defensive Player of the Year in his JUCO conference and averaged better than eight rebounds per game. He played six games for the Tigers before season-ending surgery (believed to be heart surgery). Opurum has been cleared for basketball. At minimum, he seems like a good rebounder and potential shot blocker and I think he makes a lot of sense for the backup center role.
