I checked Reddit and I am very alarmed to see IU shot a promo video for this already?

https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianaHoosiers/s/x7qwkhHewV

What the hell are we thinking sometimes I just don’t know…

I think it might be a stretch to say IU shot a promo. It appears to me she paid for Hoosier the Bison to make an appearance and paid for/got permission to use the stadium and her crew shot video.  Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.  This is epically cringe.

On the bright side I haven’t seen this video on any IU accounts yet, which hopefully supports this theory.

No evidence at all that this will be played at IU games.

I don't understand the push here.  Focus on the game day atmosphere.  Look at Clemson, Alabama, Texas A&M, when they bring the teams out, the lights go out, music plays, LED lights flashing.   This stuff here is just corny.

If someone wants to do an IU song, just make it generic like Mellencamp did.  Talk about fall in the hills of brown county and make small references with catchy phrases that may relate to Nicks, tailgating...etc,, but have the song related to a first love or memories gone too soon....SOMETHING....But to make a song driven completely by the IU football team and its history is absolutely painful to the ears.

@hurryinghoosiers I don't know, between Jack and Diane, Hurts so Good, Small Town, Pink Houses, Authority Song, Rumbleseat, etc... he's already got a ton. Plus, if you use hits, it's gonna be recognized by the entire crowd, opponent's fans, etc... Plus, he doesn't have to actually do anything and it keeps his existing songs in the spotlight a little longer.

Going with Mellencamp songs 45 years after they were released is comparable for today's youth as being served up in stadium Lawrence Welk and Big Band classics from the 40's, like my WW2 Vet grandfather used to listen to, while watching a Mallory coached game back in the day.

That would have been outrageous.

Hate as much as anyone nearly all modern music sucks, but pandering to 60 and 70 year olds on song choices is a fools errand.

There are so many more things to focus on from a Game Day experience standpoint than a music video IMO. They need to fix the speakers first, install the LED lights that can do a light show type thing in addition to just general stadium maintenance. Adding hand rails is a great start. Parking also seems like it could be an issue this year. We'll see.

I thought the song is super corny, hopefully fumbling Hurts So Good at the celebration doesn't totally kill it because it was awesome at the Rose Bowl.

@middawg Jump Around is nearly 30 years old, Mr. Brightside is over 20 years old. Hurts So Good came so naturally in Pasadena. It was great. Not forced at all.

Or as other people have suggested, pay an artist to come up with a single.

We’ve only had a full house in Memorial for 1.5 seasons.  Traditions take time.

So far the Thunderstruck entrance and towels work.  Eventually something will stick for the 4th quarter.  Keep trying stuff and eventually it will happen.

Until then, avoid embarrassing stuff like this Kayla song.

@tammany Thunderstuck works, but needs to be timed out better. Carrie on for way too long. The whole entrance sequence has great pieces, but they aren't choreographed well.

@thehoosierhuddle Yea, they need to figure that out and in general tighten up production throughout the game.

These games are now a huge deal so hopefully game ops levels up too.
