I see a ton of negative comment in here about this song. I will say when we found it (towards the end of last football season), my 5 year old and 2 year old girls have wanted it played about everyday. Something about 2 little girls running around singing hoo hoo hoo hoosiers really makes you think different about the song. I agree that it isn't a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination but maybe the idea is to get young kids excited about being at the games. Us adults are going to go to the games no matter what. Im all about trying to get young fans more into games and wanting to be IU fans for life. What is it going to hurt to try it out? Saying all of this without arguing with anyone. I know sometimes my tone comes off as argumentative and this is definitely not meant to be that way. Only 1 more weekend without college football!!!!
@mouora23 I totally agree with doing things to attract new fans, but I think playing a song that you can gauge (focus group anyone?) and confirm that the vast majority of paying customers are going to find annoying, is not the way to go about it. I think it would also wind up being embarassing to the artist, because I don't think folks would react kindly or politely. Maybe an autograph session and sing along with Ms Yeh before a game for kids? That would seem to be more appropriate.
Put her out at whatever they've renamed the tailgate on the south end. For some reason AI has a hard time pronouncing Hoosier.
That's why I'm not convinced the OG song isn't AI. Around the 2:35 mark where it pronounces "Steve Alford" like "Al-ford."
My main beef with the Kayla tune is why even start with lyrics moaning about how poor IU football has been? I guess because it's country music and the dog died? I have no interest in that ####. 34 years is a long time..." That will excite the crowd with fond memories, and strike fear into our opponents.
