You just don't like it because I'm disagreeing with you and giving you factual reasons as to why you're wrong and you have only your feelings to fall back on. I'm not disagreeing with you with any malice, it's just not a reasonable assertion that you're making.Rolls Eyes 🙄
Your posting style reminds me of someone…
Historically the SEC has never played a higher average number of Power 4 (P4) games per team per season than the Big Ten.
Who do you guys think sits on the CFP selection committees? It's former coaches, ADs even sportswriters and all of them have these preconceived notions and biases. And, if they don't have a B10 background, many of them will want to punish IU for that perceived flaw. Heck look at 2024: many folks didn't think a 1 loss IU team belonged. Like I said, as long as we have 1 or fewer losses I accept that I'm wrong.
But, it is laughable to me how many Hoosiers now are totally fine with playing cupcakes. Many of whom rail about no good home game opponents on the bball schedule. I just don't think a Lville or UVA would've beaten a Cig team so far, and I think it often would better prepare the team for tough early season conference games. Maybe we'd not have struggled against an Iowa or Northwestern if we'd already played a UVA. I don't really like playing any directional teams, let alone 3. You'd really be sweating a precon that was ISU, Ball St and Cincy, UK or Lville for instance? And that to me would be a much more interesting and better precon. Cupcake, MAC level and 1 P4 team. We're a really good team, play some decent competition. It's been the mantra we were raised on and now no one wants to acknowledge that.
I see where you're coming from, but I'd rather make sure we're sweating out games in January then late September, but that's just me.
@hurryinghoosiers You know that's just mean! Purdue and Rutgers deserve an SEC buttkicking as much as a B1G buttkicking!
@iunorth I was talking about his Ohio state schedule. It was atrocious. Fair point on SEC scheduling too.
@d-b-cooper Let's face it. Urb is still a knob. And as dirty as any coach ever. How he's finagled that into a primetime tv gig is a truly sad reminder of what our modern day media has become.

Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

@openwheel C'mon Man. It's a bad look because you're scheduling games with contractual implications and then paying to get out of them. If it was any other program, you'd immediately be saying "they're ducking competition". UMASS, who'd lost what, 13 straight? Suddenly upsets Rutgers and whammo, they're dropped? I'm not sure you're even looking through crimson colored glasses, if you can't see that. Perhaps crimson sleeping mask?
How is it a bad look if UMASS is the one wanting out?
Was IU supposed to deny their request?
well I think what he's getting at is we had an opportunity to add a game with a power 4 team and we didn't. Which would have made up for some of the other games we've dropped and would have appeared to make us look like we weren't ducking better competition. I don't think it had anything to do with the fact that UMass initiated it. Folks have taken shots at us for this and we had the opportunity to choose others and we didn't. I can see both sides the argument... I would have liked to us play a stronger opponent in this case but I get why Cig isn't. Until it's either mandated or we are burned by our strength of schedule via being left out of the playoff then why change.

We don't need to "make up" for games/teams we've dropped, and if those in other fanbases want to take shots, let them. It's jealousy.
Cig engineered one of the most stunning turnarounds in sports and Indiana's 2025-2026 season was arguably the greatest in the history of college football. We ran a gauntlet beginning with the B1G championship and then in the CFP and emerged undefeated and hoisting the trophy. We have nothing to prove to anyone.
10-2 (two conference losses) probably gets us into the CFP, regardless of the quality of OOC opposition. 9-3 almost certainly does not (Alabama was a notable, and controversial, exception), even if the third loss is to a very good team. Why risk that with a P4 OOC opponent?
The B1G is the best conference in the country, and in the hunt for its FOURTH consecutive national championship. The weekly conference schedule is tough enough. CCC knows exactly what he's doing with scheduling, and ICWT!
I'd be interested in a list of P4 schools that had an opening on this date for 2027. My guess is you could count it on zero fingers, but I could be wrong.@openwheel C'mon Man.
