I understand the philosophy with dropping the UVA, ND, and to some extent UCONN series.
But did we really need to cancel the UMASS game to add Jax State?
I’m not saying we need to have Oklahoma, ND, and Miami as our non-conference or anything. But this is just a bad look for it to keep happening. It’s not even a significant move up or down just a lateral change.

So how is that a 'bad look' in any way, shape, or form? It’s not even a significant move up or down just a lateral change.
I don't understand your complaint.
The article gives some reasonable suppositions. So two schools managed to adjust. That's a problem? Talk to the NCAA I guess if it trips your trigger.
This was UMass' doing. We agrees to let them out so they could play Wisconsin.
If we were the ones wanting out, UMass would have made us pay to cancel. That's not what happened though.
@openwheel C'mon Man. It's a bad look because you're scheduling games with contractual implications and then paying to get out of them. If it was any other program, you'd immediately be saying "they're ducking competition". UMASS, who'd lost what, 13 straight? Suddenly upsets Rutgers and whammo, they're dropped? I'm not sure you're even looking through crimson colored glasses, if you can't see that. Perhaps crimson sleeping mask?
I think most of what you wrote above is totally ridiculous. You can't be serious.@openwheel C'mon Man. Two schools had conflicts to resolve, so they did.
This is a couple of you just leaping on something to whine about!
Who paid how much to get out of what? Was it in the article? If so, my bad then.
No, I wouldn't pay the slightest attention if "some other program" made this move. LOL Come on...

No money changed hands.
UMass announced last month their game with Wisconsin. They wanted out and we okay'd it, thus mutual agreement.
This is a nothingburger.
@openwheel I didn't read it, and it wouldn't be a bad look at all, if not for: Lville, then UVA, then ND... did I miss any? If it were any other program, you'd be singing a totally different song. It's the only complaint I've had about Cig, and I've accepted it, because he's Cig and I'm an armchair QB, but think about how it looks in relation to all the adages we hear: honor your commitments, iron sharpens iron... except in this case apparently cupcakes sharpen iron too. And it's about the only legit complaint other programs and conferences can lob against us. So far, it's not hurt us, but if we were to wind up with 2 losses this year, or any year with a weak precon, there will be many folks out there wanting to punish us, and if a few of them are on the CFP selection committee, hello Poptarts Bowl.
Google it and see what the football community and other fanbases think of it.
Jacksonville St is probably a better team than UMass so the schedule is upgraded. UMass wanted out se we let them.
A lot of jumping to conclusions here before knowing the facts.
As for the OOC, Cig knows the trade off of SOS for more low risk team development time. Just let him do his thing. Good grief.
I whined about every one of those cancellations. (I think now I was somewhat wrong, I lean more now to protecting the health of the team and preparing for 9 conference games.) Those were totally different. We're not even really changing the strength of schedule! UMASS? Oohhh, scary....and it wouldn't be a bad look at all, if not for: Lville, then UVA, then ND... did I miss any? If it were any other program, you'd be singing a totally different song. It's the only complaint I've had about Cig, and I've accepted it, because he's Cig
So the complaints here now are just parroting the anti-IU posters who didn't bother to read the article. 🤨 No need to give them the time of day.
I just know 'if it was any other program' is false. I haven't complained about any other schools cupcakes. Other than maybe tit-for-tat on the SEC whiners when they were playing only 8 conference games.
@tammany You're absolutely right, I didn't even read the article and don't care to. I jumped to the same conclusion as most of the rest of the college football world will because of our past actions and stance, and that's the problem. Like I've said, I've accepted it, but I still think it's a mistake. As long as we can go entire seasons with 0 or 1 loss, it will never come back to bite us, and with Cig, that might be entirely possible. Besides, I think it will become a moot point because I think it's inevitable that the conference adds a requirement for a 10th conference game (which I'd prefer and do away with the B10 championship game) or adding a P4 non-con requirement, like the SEC has done.
Yeah, the problem with most of the rest of the college football world... If vocal online posters somehow represent that world.I jumped to the same conclusion as most of the rest of the college football world will because of our past actions and stance, and that's the problem.
When a major media figure respected in college football says something, (On exchanging UMass for JState, LOL, sure to be many editorials.) I'll make sure to check it out.
Seems odd to have such a strong reaction to something you didn't even read to get the facts about.@tammany You're absolutely right, I didn't even read the article and don't care to. How is it a bad look if UMASS is the one wanting out?
Was IU supposed to deny their request?
I don’t care what the rest of the CFB world thinks of our schedule, especially other fanbases who don’t like IU or care about our program.
I’m sure if the committee wants more SOS we’ll add a P4 OOC. And the conference will probably mandate it soon. We’ll probably add someone like Boston College lol.
