Following a disappointing loss in Columbus on Saturday, Head Coach Curt Cignetti met with the media on Monday. Cignetti briefly mentioned the OSU game before shifting the focus entirely to the Old Oaken Bucket Game against Purdue this Saturday.

Heading into the game on Saturday, it was clear that the Indiana offense had to have their best game of the season in order to get the win. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The Hoosiers struggled to move the ball, ending the game with a season-low 151 yards of total offense.

I can’t believe I have to say this, but no, IU will not be sitting their star QB for their top-5 matchup against Ohio State this Saturday. Yet this was ESPN pundit Joey Galloway’s take on Tuesday’s CFP show. Galloway said, “If I’m Indiana, I don’t know if I’m playing Rourke against Ohio State…What could keep Indiana out of this? Getting their quarterback hurt.” At the same time that Galloway was floating this contender for worst take of the year, Kurtis Rourke was speaking to the media in Bloomington, excited at the opportunity of a top-5 matchup.

After getting off to the best start in Indiana football history, the Hoosiers celebrated with a well-earned bye week. While talking to the media on Monday, Head Coach Curt Cignetti stressed the importance of the bye week following a gritty win against Michigan.

The Hoosiers needed a big play. With 5:33 left in the 4th quarter, Indiana was nursing a 17-15 lead over the Michigan Wolverines. The usually red-hot Hoosier offense had fallen stagnant in the second half, allowing the Wolverines to score 12 unanswered points, cutting the IU lead to just two. To make matters worse, starting punt returner Myles Price had left the game with an injury and did not return. The Hoosiers were in need of a spark. Enter Ke’Shawn Williams.
