The Countdown to Kickoff is nearing the halfway point as we are now down to 52 days until IU battles Iowa at Kinnick Stadium. Today we feature the two guys who will wear the number 52 jersey— first up is Shamar Jones on defensive side of the ball, and later today Joshua Sales on offense.

Freshman Maurice Freeman enrolled at Indiana fresh off of winning a Virginia State championship in his senior season of high school. He played most of the season as a safety, and in Bloomington he plans to utilize his versatility at the husky position.

Micah McFadden Named to Preseason All-American Team

One of the anchors of Indiana’s defense has been named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation Preseason All-American team. Micah McFadden, senior linebacker for the Hoosiers, was one of six linebackers to be given a spot as he was selected on the second team. The honor comes after an outstanding 2020 season that saw him named to All-American teams by Phil Steele and the Associated Press. He led the Hoosiers with 58 tackles, six sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss along with a pair of interceptions.

For Weston Kramer, Indiana Was the Right Fit

Indiana is bringing in a new defensive tackle this year in graduate transfer Weston Kramer. Kramer played four years at Northern Illinois University where he racked up 97 tackles (38 solo, 59 assist), 12.5 TFLs (38 yards) 3.5 sacks (21 yards), and two pass breakups in 45 games, 30 of which he started in. The graduate student looks to add depth to the defensive line when the Hoosiers desperately needed it.
