One of the anchors of Indiana’s defense has been named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation Preseason All-American team. Micah McFadden, senior linebacker for the Hoosiers, was one of six linebackers to be given a spot as he was selected on the second team. The honor comes after an outstanding 2020 season that saw him named to All-American teams by Phil Steele and the Associated Press. He led the Hoosiers with 58 tackles, six sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss along with a pair of interceptions.

The 2021 version of the All-American team will be the 132nd edition of the prestigious squad and McFadden joins seven other Big Ten players on this year’s preseason team. The other Big Ten players to make the cut were Chris Olave (WR – Ohio State), Thayer Munford (OL – Ohio State), Tyler Linderbaum (Center – Iowa), Mohamed Ibrahim (RB – Minnesota), Haskell Garrett (DL – Ohio State), Brandon Joseph (DB – Northwestern) and Aron Cruickshank (KR – Rutgers).

Micah McFadden will lead IU’s defense as the Hoosiers open the 2021 season in Iowa City against the Iowa Hawkeyes on September 4.
