It has been 25 years since the Indiana Hoosiers won their last bowl game. Despite a valiant effort against the #19 Utah Utes from the PAC-12, that bowl victory drought will continue for at least one more season. In the first game of the Tom Allen era, the Indiana Hoosiers were bested by a late Andy Phillips field goal as Utah hung on to knock off IU 26-24 in the Foster Farms Bowl in Santa Clara, California.

What: Utah Utes vs. Indiana Hoosiers
When: Wednesday, December 28 at 8:30
Where: Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California
How to Watch: The game will be broadcast on FOX. You can also listen to the game on the IU Radio Network with the legendary Don Fischer on the call.
What’s at Stake: This is Tom Allen’s first game as the head coach at Indiana University and the Hoosiers are looking for their first bowl victory since 1991 (the Hoosiers won the Copper Bowl and finished 7-4-1). A victory would also give IU its first winning season since they finished 7-6 in 2007. Utah has a remarkable 9-1 record in bowl games under head coach Kyle Whittingham and a win would give the Utes their fourth straight bowl victory and a third straight year with at least nine wins.

It has been more than 25 years since the Indiana Hoosiers have won a bowl game (they last won a bowl in 1991). While the past few weeks have been trying, the goal for IU’s upcoming trip to California, remains the same: get better through the bowl practices and knock off Utah in the Foster Farms Bowl. On the night of December 28, IU (6-6) will need to be at their best to beat the 8-4 Utes, a team that has been ranked in the College Football Playoff rankings every week and has achieved a top ten ranking earlier in the year. Head coach Kyle Whittingham is 9-1 in bowl games with the Utes and Utah is eighth in the country in sacks with 40.
