Put down your "Pokemon Go" folks, we have a Boom from the Indianapolis area. On Tuesday night, the Hoosiers received a commitment from Tri-West tight end Peyton Hendershot, who is being recruited to IU as an athlete. Hendershot de-committed from Ball State on June 21st just two days after receiving an offer from IU after a summer camp in Bloomington.

The Lizton, Indiana native is ranked a three-star prospect by 247 Sports and is listed as the 18th best prospect in the state by 247's composite rankings. At 6'4" and 215 pounds, Hendershot has great size for a tight end while also having the frame to add bulk to switch to the defensive side of the ball should the Hoosiers choose to play him there. He shows excellent feet and play making ability at tight end. He is a beast in the weight room benching at 325 lbs. and squating 400 lbs. according to his HUDL profile. He also plays forward for the Tri-West basketball team.

Hendershot is the eighth recruit to commit to the Hoosiers' 2017 class and his pledge keeps them at 11th in the conference and 71st in the nation. He looks to start his IU career playing tight end.

Hendershot told Hoosier Huddle that he chose IU because, "I feel they are building something special down there and I want to be apart of it. I know some of the commits that are going there and I want to build something with them."

The Hoosiers' newest commit was recruited by tight end's coach James Patton. Patton has already been a home run with Hendershot. "Since I met Coach Patton, he has been my favorite coach and I can't wait to start working with him."
