3 & Out Offense: Week 10 Minnesota Golden Gophers

Welcome to meaningful November football Hoosier Nation! Tomorrow is the most important game of the season for this Indiana football squad as they face off against the Minnesota Golden Gophers for homecoming.  Minnesota is coming off two of their best wins in the last three years, knocking off Northwestern on the road and Nebraska at home last week.  However, this is a very winnable game for the Hoosiers and the offense has to be the force to carry the Hoosiers to victory.  Here are the three keys that the Hoosier offense needs to take one step closer to bowl eligibility.

Here are this week’s power rankings:

(1) Ohio State Buckeyes (Previous Rank: 1); Record: 8-0 (4-0)

Taking advantage of their last opportunity to really impress voters until their season finale, the Bucks crushed Penn State. QB Braxton Miller continues to improve, as does OSU’s young D.

This will be the 71st meeting between the two schools.  Illinois leads the series 45-23-2, however the Hoosiers won last year in Champaign 31-17 for the first Big Ten win in Kevin Wilson's tenure at Indiana.

Hoosiers Enter a Critical Two Weeks

Hoosiers Enter a Critical Two Weeks

The next two weeks will define the 2013 Indiana Hoosier football season.  Will this team grab enough wins to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2007? Or will fans, players, and coaches be left saying what if?  Indiana returns home Saturday to face a red-hot Minnesota team coming off an impressive 11-point win over Nebraska.  Meanwhile the Hoosiers are riding a two-game losing streak and coming off a bye week where hopefully they have figured out a way to shore up a defense who looked ghastly against Michigan.

Bye-week Blues? We Have You Covered

Bye-week Blues? We Have You Covered

Having Bye-week blues? Don’t worry the Hoosiers will be back in action next week as they take on the Golden Gophers for Homecoming.  To pass that time here are three Big Ten games that you should keep an eye on this weekend.

1.  No. 24. Nebraska (5-1, 2-0) at Minnesota (5-2, 1-2) Noon, ESPN- Minnesota returns home after an upset win in Evanston last weekend and Nebraska is just half a game back of Michigan State for the Legends Division lead.  As a Hoosier fan, you will probably be locked into how Minnesota is playing and whether or not Philip Nelson will get the nod over backup Mitch Leidner at the helm for the 122nd ranked passing attack in the nation.  Minnesota is not inept on offense however, they do rank 28th nationally running the ball.  Nebraska will look to take over TCF Bank Stadium and continue their winning ways against a team that has lost its head coach and may have to start Philip Nelson at quarterback.
