The Indiana Hoosiers picked up their first verbal commitment of the 2025 signing class from offensive lineman Matt Marek late Wednesday.
Marek was offered by the Hoosiers in Jan 2024 and chose the Crimson and Cream over Coastal Carolina, Ball State and other Division I programs.
Marek, who is from the bordering state of Illinois, attended the same high school as former IU star offensive lineman Dan Feeney.
Marek was on campus last weekend and felt at home. “I really felt comfortable around Coach (Bob) Bostad, Coach (Curt) Cignetti, the rest of the staff, and the players. The future of Indiana football is very bright and I want to be apart of it. When I stepped foot on campus it felt like home.” Marek told Hoosier Huddle.
According to his hudl account, Marek won offensive MVP for his role at Carl Sandburg High School and played multiple positions on the offensive line.
Marek describes himself as “a nasty blocker with the ability to keep composure and stay calm in stressful situations. My football IQ helps me and my teammates a lot.”
He’ll come to Bloomington measuring in at 6’4” with the ability to be molded into the role of coach Cignetti’s choosing.
Marek still has a long time before he comes to Bloomington officially, but he has goals set out so he is ready to join the Hoosier program.
“I am going to work on becoming quick and explosive. I will also implement how Indiana trains so I am ready when I enroll.” Marek explained.
The Hoosiers hosted Marek in Bloomington this past weekend and have an opportunity to make their case this weekend for 2025 composite five-star quarterback Julian Lewis.
