The Indiana Hoosiers hosted their first junior day events this past weekend in Bloomington. One of the participants was instate wide receiver Davion Chandler.
The Lawrence North speedster has from the class of 2025 already has two offers, IU and West Virginia.
“My junior day was great it felt like home.” Chandler told Hoosier Huddle.
Chandler put up some really solid numbers for Lawrence North as a junior last season. He made 40 catches for 779 yards and 13 touchdowns.
IU has recently brought in several players from the Indianapolis high school including two current receivers in Donaven McCulley and Omar Cooper Jr. That connection could play a big role in Chandler’s recruitment.
“It makes my decision to go (to IU) a lot easier knowing I can ask D-mac and Coop questions about Indiana football,” Chandler explained, “but also it helps being able to ask them how is it to be a P5 athlete and what everyday life consists of.”
The highlight of Chandler’s Junior Day visit was starting early on some work with the coaches.
“My favorite part was breaking down film with coach Shanahan and learning from a guy who was P5 his self and just seeing how he views the game.” Chandler said.
Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti’s history of winning caught Chandler a little off guard, but it made an impact.
“Talking to Coach Cignetti surprised me knowing his history and how much he’s done it was a honor to speak with him.” Chandler said.
Chandler has not committed yet, but it would seem IU is in good shape for the future.
