How Former Hoosiers Fared in the NFL during the 2023 Regular Season

The 2023 NFL regular season wrapped up on Sunday and there were several impactful former Hoosiers in the league this year. Let’s take a look at each Hoosier on an NFL roster in 2023.

DL Ryder Anderson, New York Giants- Spent the season on the Giants practice squad after appearing in seven games in 2022.

OL Dan Feeney, Chicago Bears- Feeney finished his first year with the Bears by playing in 16 games with one start.

TE Peyton Hendershot, Dallas Cowboys- Hendershot played in eight games with one start in 2023. He made four catches for 38 yards. He was also an impactful player on special teams as he blocked a punt and made three tackles. The Cowboys host the Green Bay Packers in the Wildcard Round. 

OL Caleb Jones, Green Bay Packers- Jones appeared in one game for the Packers.

LB Cam Jones, Kansas City Chiefs- Jones was an impactful undrafted free agent for the Chiefs. He played in all 17 games with a start in the season finale. He made 17 total tackles (14 solo). Jones and the Chiefs will host the Dolphins in the Wild Card round.

DB Raheem Layne, Los Angeles Charges- Layne finished his second season with the Charges and found his way onto the field in five games, including a start. He made seven total tackles.

LB Micah McFadden, New York Giants- McFadden was probably the most impactful former Hoosier in the NFL as he has blossomed into the Giants best linebacker. McFadden played in 16 games and started 14 of them. He made 101 tackles, 12 tackles for loss (one sack), recovered four fumbles and intercepted a pass.

LB Marcelino Mcrary-Ball, New York Jets- He made two appearances for the Jets, mainly on special teams after being elevated from the practice squad in December.

OL Rodger Saffold, Cleveland Browns- Saffold spent most of the season on the Jets practice squad. He was released towards the end of the season and signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad ahead of the playoffs.

QB Nate Sudfeld, Detroit Lions- Sudfeld spent the season on the Lions’ injured reserve list after suffering an ACL tear in Detroit’s final preseason game.

TE Ian Thomas, Carolina Panthers- Thomas played in 12 games for the Panthers in 2023 and saw his production disappear. He made just five catches for 56 yards as he battled injuries and a poor offense this season.

WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Tennessee Titans- Westbrook-Ikhine appeared in 14 games with nine starts for the Titans. He made 28 receptions for 370 yards and three touchdowns.

DB Jaylin Williams, Minnesota Vikings- Williams spent most of the year on the Vikings’ practice squad. He was called up to the active roster in late December and made appearances in three games playing both special teams and defense. He made one tackle.
