This weekend marks the final opportunity for 2017 prospects to make official visits to the colleges who are looking to land their services on the football field. Indiana's 2017 class has come on strong since the calendar flipped to 2017 with four commits in the last two weeks. This weekend IU will only be hosting three prospects, but they are three potentially instant-impact players.
Indiana Commits
1. Tramar Reece, DE, Clearwater, FL, 247 Composite Rank: 3-Stars
Reece committed to Indiana way back in June of 2016 and It is probably good that IU has him on campus this week as his primary recruiter, Greg Frey, just left for a job at Michigan. Indiana will need to probably put his mind at ease a little bit. The good news is that Reece is a defensive guy and the staff on that side of the ball hasn't had any turnover. On the field Reece can give Indiana a long, athletic end that they have been missing over the last couple of years. Reece holds 16 offers including ones from Duke, Louisville, and Iowa State.
Players Who Are Uncommitted or Committed Elsewhere
1. Bobby Roundtree, DE, Tampa, FL, 247 Composite Rank: 3-Star
Roundtree has been a top target for Indiana for a long time and it is huge that Indiana is his last official visit. At six-foot-five Roundtree, like Reece, is a long, athletic end. According to his HUDL page he has been clocked at 4.7 in the 40-yard dash. Roundtree is from Largo H.S. and would be joining fellow Largo alumni Jonathan Crawford and Donavan Hale in Bloomington. Roundtree would be the icing on the cake for this defensive line group and would probably be pencilled in to the two-deep when fall camp rolls around.
2. Devan Barrett, RB, Tampa, FL, 247 Composite Rank: 4-Star, Auburn Commit
Flipping Devan Barrett from Aurburn will be a tall task, but the Hoosiers have last licks on the coveted running back recruit out of Tampa Catholic. At six-foot-one, Barrett's body type compares to Tevin Coleman and he has the moves to back up that comparison. Barrett ran for 1,891 yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior. He finished his high school career with 2,342 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns. If the Hoosiers can land this fish, it would change the dynamic of the class and elevate it from a good class to a great class on paper.
