The recruiting trail has stayed hot for Tom Allen and the Hoosier staff as they landed 6’7”, 200-pound tight end Jalen Williams on Thursday night as they kicked off Fall Camp. Williams is rated a three-star recruit (85.77) by 247 Sports composite ranking and is the 38th best tight end in the nation. Williams played his high school football at Wekiva High School in Apoka, Florida.
He held 13 offers including ones from UCF, Iowa State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee and Virginia. Williams made his announcement on Twitter and said:
I would like to thank God for giving me the ability to play football-a sport I love. I would like to thank my family for the love, support with all of the traveling, and guidance. Thanks to Wekiva High School football coaches and teammates for the experience and brotherhood we have shared. To all of the trainers and the other schools that have made this recruiting process memorable…Thank you!
Finally, to Coach Allen, asa well as the entire coaching staff at Indiana University for showing an interest in me and giving me the opportunity to continue my academic and football career. I am excited to announce I have committed to playing football at Indiana University!

Williams looks to be a terrific athlete who provides a big target to throw to. He has good hands and can physically take a hit and bounce off defenders. Williams will need to put on some bulk to play tight end at the Big Ten level, but his raw talent is there. Fans can watch his HUDL film here. According to 247 Sports Williams made 37 catches for 537 yards and five touchdowns as a junior.
Williams is the 15th member of the Hoosiers’ 2020 recruiting class, which now ranks at 49th nationally and 10th in the Big Ten.
