The Hoosiers landed three-star quarterback Josh Hoover, who decided to bring his football throwing career to Bloomington Tuesday afternoon. The Rockwall-Heath High School pro-style quarterback is ranked No. 36 quarterback in the nation, No.74 recruit in Texas, and No. 528 overall for the Class of 2022 prospects by 247 Sports.

Hoover had a monster junior season with 36 passing and four rushing touchdowns and completed 236 of 387 passes for 3496 yards against top class competition in Dallas-Fort Worth area, Texas. He was named the District 10-6A Offensive MVP following his breakout 2020 season.

Indiana’s first offensive commitment in the 2022 recruiting class comes just two months after Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach Nick Sheridan offered Hoover in late April. Here’s his official announcement on Twitter.

Hoover is a great pickup for Hoosier offense— he’s a competitor who can extend plays with legs and make plays when needed as a runner. Hoover has a very good touch and good, strong throwing arm. He would be a mid to high four-star if he was a couple inches taller than 6’1”. Overall, Hoover is a great fit for the Indiana football roster behind current depth.

Hoover is the third commitment in three days for the Hoosiers, since Trevell Mullen and Isaiah Jones announced on Sunday. With the addition of Hoover, IU’s 2022 recruiting class now has six commitments.
