/Written By Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
Countdown to Kickoff: # 5 – J-Shun Harris
Height: 5’8”
Weight: 172 pounds
Hometown: Fishers, Indiana (Fishers)
Class/Position: RS Senior /Wide Receiver
J-Shun Harris has had an up and down Hoosier career. After a stellar freshman season in 2014 that saw him play in all 12 games (six starts) and catch 18 passes for 168 yards, Harris has only played in seven games in three seasons.
Harris missed both 2015 and 2016 with ACL injuries and saw his 2017 campaign cut short after a third ACL injury. Last season, Harris became a weapon on special teams as he averaged 19 yards per a return and returned two punts for touchdowns. He earned Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week twice in 2017.
Nobody would have blamed Harris if he wanted to hang it up after his third major knee injury in three seasons, but to his credit Harris has worked his way back in 2018. While he may not be the primary punt returner this season, Harris has enjoyed a big preseason at receiver and could become more of a factor in the passing game. If you’re a college football fan, you’ll find yourself rooting for a player like J-Shun Harris.
