Class of 2020 Early Signing Period Profile: Lemuel Neely-Watley
/Written by Andrew Walker
Name: Lemuel Neely-Watley
Position: Defensive Back
Hometown/High School: Harper Woods HS in Detroit, MI
247 Composite Ranking: 3-star (85.39)
Lemuel Neely-Watley is the 27th ranked CB in the state of Michigan, and the 74th ranked CB nationally. He chose Indiana over Michigan State, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kentucky, and a few others. This is a big get for the Hoosiers.
He’ll play CB at IU, but had a stint as a WR at his previous high school last year. “He played almost exclusively wide receiver at East English Village Prep a year ago, but showed corner skills at camps and workouts. He is a playmaker who exudes confidence and still catches the ball like a receiver,” Allan Trieu of 247 Sports said after watching the young star play last year.
When committing, Neely-Watley had this to say on his Twitter. “First I’d like to thank God for my abilities, my family for believing in me throughout the process, coach Oden for guidance, and lastly I’d like to thank all the schools that have reached out and talked to me. Blessed to Announce That I’ll Be Committing to Indiana University #LEO”
I’d compare Neely-Watley, with his quick cutting ability and high-top speed, would compare him to Tiawan Mullen. The young CB for the Hoosiers came onto the scene this year with fire, and I’d expect Neely-Watley to do the same when he gets here. Neely-Watley put out his latest highlight tape in November.
