Class of 2020 Early Signing Period Profile: Cameron Knight
/Written by Andrew Walker
Name: Cameron Knight
Position: OL
Hometown/High School: Noblesville HS in Noblesville, IN
247 Composite Ranking: 3-star (81.67)
Cameron Knight is a 6’3, 270-pound offensive lineman that graduates in 2020. He’s the 30th ranked OL in the state of Indiana according to 247sports.com, and was a huge part of Noblesville’s season in the run and pass protect.
Knight picked the Hoosiers over the Ball State Cardinals, and took his official visit to IU on December 6th. He did not take an official visit to Ball State. Other notable interests for Knight include, Cincinnati, Illinois State, and Miami of Ohio.
Knight said about his commitment on Twitter “Beyond excited to announce that I have committed to Indiana University to further my academic and football career.” Knight will join Indiana as the second of the Knight family, joining his older brother Brandon who graduated in 2018 and is now with the Dallas Cowboys.
In an interview with Matt Weaver of Peegs.com, Knight said his visit in early December “was a really great time to be with all the coaches, players, and commits, and to bring my family along was really fun. What stood out to me was how involved every single staff member was in every part of the visit. The highlight to me was Coach (Dave) Ballou and Dr. (Matt) Rhea’s presentation.” Knight will be one of the Hoosiers that will enroll early and be ready for spring practice.
Knight will most likely play inside at IU, due to his footwork skill and speed. I’d compare him to Hunter Littlejohn. Like Littlejohn, Knight is about six-foot-three and will likely be manning an interior line position, probably at guard. Knight did play center and tackle at Noblesville High School as you can see on his HUDL highlight tape.
