Hometown/High School: Stafford, VA/ North Stafford
247 Composite Ranking: 3-Star (83.63)
As a standout multi-sport athlete at North Stafford High School, Javon Swinton racked up nearly a dozen scholarship offers to play basketball and football at the collegiate level. Swinton stands out on both sides of the ball, as a wide receiver and cornerback. He earned First-Team All-Region in both positions as a junior.
The Virginia native chose Indiana over offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Temple, Syracuse, Old Dominion, South Carolina, Massachusetts, and Marshall. Before even stepping foot on campus, Swinton made a verbal commitment to carry his college football career to Bloomington.
“Indiana felt like home,” Swinton told Joey Lomanaco of The Freelance Star, “They told me that when I go down there, I’m just an athlete. Wherever I can get the most reps on the depth chart. It’s better competition so I’ll have to make a name for myself.”
Like freshman athlete David Ellis, Swinton will serve as another talented, unlabeled threat for the Hoosiers that can play on both sides of the ball.
