Highlights

Finding talented and difference-making defensive linemen is one of the more difficult things to do in college football. The Indiana Hoosiers believe they have found one in 6’2”, 275-pound tackle Damarjhe Lewis. IU dipped back into Georgia, a state they’ve had a lot of success in recently, and secured the talents of Lewis over Auburn (who he was previously committed to), Florida State and several other high-profile schools. After IU moved on from JeJuan Sparks, they were all-in on Lewis and the attention paid off. The big man visited Indiana for the Michigan game and shortly thereafter, he committed to the Cream and Crimson.

He played in multiple spots for Griffin High School but will be lining up on the interior in Bloomington. Lewis has a good burst off the line and impressive strength and athleticism. He is the kind of player that can get penetration from the defensive tackle spot, something IU desperately could use.

“I shouldn’t go to a college I like but instead go to a college that likes me,” Lewis posted on Instagram. “I am proud to say I will be committing to play the game of football for the next 3 to 4 years at Indiana University!”

Lewis is a disruptive force in the interior of the line and his potential and athleticism reminds me of former Hoosier Darius Latham. If Lewis can bring the effort and intensity throughout the offseason, he could factor into a rotation on the line that brings back a lot of pieces.
