Carmel DB and Hoosier Commit Christian Peterson Ready to 'Show Out' For His State

Carmel defensive back Christian Peterson committed to the Hoosiers earlier in June after camping at IU. Peterson is a three-star prospect who had 11 other offers before choosing IU. Peterson should bring some versatility to the Hoosier defensive backfield in the future.

“I’m looking forward to just coming in and trying to make an impact on the program and bring my skills and talent to help the team the best way I can and i’m ready to learn and grow on and off the field.” Peterson told Hoosier Huddle.

Peterson played all over the field for Carmel including offense, defense and special teams. As a junior in 2022, he amassed 383 all-purpose yards and a touchdown. He even threw a 45 yard pass.

Peterson will be playing defense at IU and can put his mark on the secondary.

“I’ll bring energy , i’m a lockdown defender, and I bring versatility.” he said.

Peterson has already built relationships with the coaching staff and pointed out that the staff and his role on the team stood out to him the most.

“I built a relationship with Coach G the safety coach and I built a relationship with Thomas Allen they showed love all the time and made me feel like it was a place like home.” Peterson said.

The Hoosiers have had an influx of in-state commitments so far in the 2024 class and Peterson believes that’s just more fuel for him.

“With me being from Indiana and committing to an In state school is big for me because I have an opportunity to show out for my state and with me being close to home family and friends can come see.” he said.

Peterson acknowledged there are aspects of his game that he would like to fine tune during his senior season. “I want to work on is me getting comfortable with playing the nickel position and me just getting my body ready for the college game.” he explained.

It will be another few months, maybe even a year before Peterson steps into Bloomington officially as a Hoosier but he is “looking forward to just coming in and trying to make an impact on the program and bring my skills and talent to help the team the best way I can and i’m ready to learn and grow on and off the field.”
