3-Star QB Alberto Mendoza Commits to Hoosiers

The Indiana Hoosiers hosted a number of visitors this past weekend the commitments are now flooding in as Curt Cignetti and his coaching staff begin to build their first roster in Bloomington. After commitments from running back transfer Justice Ellison and defensive lineman Mario Landino, IU has a quarterback in the 2024 class. Three-star prospect and Florida state champion Alberto Mendoza committed to the Hoosiers on Monday morning.
After committing, Mendoza spoke glowingly about the new IU coaching staff to the excellent Matt Weaver of peegs.com. “I love the coaching staff,” Mendoza said. “One of the biggest reasons why I committed to JMU in the first place is because of how much I love Coach Tino (Sunseri) and Coach (Curt) Cignetti and Coach (Mike) Shanahan.”
Alberto Mendoza has what appears to be an unorthodox throwing motion and he is currently listed at 6’2” and only 185 pounds. He committed to James Madison over Appalachian State, Charlotte, East Carolina, Toledo and UAB and then flipped his commitment to IU. The offer list doesn’t necessarily jump off the page but Alberto Mendoza absolutely produces. By his own admission, his biggest strength is possibly his ability to process information quickly and make good decisions before throwing accurately. He has thrown for more than 4,500 yards and almost 60 touchdowns while completing more than 70 percent of his attempts. His Columbus High School team has won back-to-back state championships in Florida, an impressive feat.
Hoosier Huddle will continue to cover the recruiting season as Curt Cignetti adds to the roster in Bloomington.
