2024 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 26 Days (Joshua Rudolph)
/Written By Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
The Indiana Hoosiers are entering the second week of fall camp and the Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff is heading to day 26. Today we look at linebacker Joshua Rudolph.
COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: #26 Joshua Rudolph
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 223 pounds
Hometown: Montgomery, Alabama (Park Crossing)
Previous School: Austin Peay
Class/Position: Senior/ Linebacker
Joshua Rudolph is entering his second season with the Hoosiers after a stellar career with the Austin Peay Governors. Rudolph played in 12 games for the Hoosiers in 2023 making 18 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. The senior linebacker played a reserve role last year, but showed his speed and athleticism can make up for a slight lack of size for the Big Ten.
This season, Rudolph will again be counted upon as a key depth piece on defense and special teams. His speed can be a weapon as he should see more snaps in 2024. In Hoosier Huddle’s spring practice preview Evan Alvarez wrote that, “Rudolph was the 2nd best performing linebacker on the stout 2023 Indiana linebacking unit per PFF (Aaron Casey was the top performer, if you’re curious). Where Rudolph shined (no pun intended) the most was in pass coverage, grading as the top coverage linebacker for Indiana in 2023 by far. To hammer in his pass coverage importance, Rudolph graded 39% higher in pass coverage than the next closest linebacker with a PFF grade of 66.9. The next closest pass coverage grade among linebackers was Aaron Casey at 48.2 (all PFF stats here are using a minimum of 20 coverage snaps in the 2023 season).”
The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff continues each and every day so be sure to check back often for the latest profile piece!
