2018 In-State Tight End Anthony Torres Is Starting to Turn Heads at Summer Camps

We have heard about how beneficial summer football camps are for the coaches, but for most players it is a chance to grab someone's attention. 2018 tight end Anthony Torres is from Mishawka, Indiana, a town with a population of just north of 48,000 according to the 2010 census. Torres told Hoosier Huddle in a phone interview that he is thankful that schools put on summer camps saying, "not many coaches are going to come up and see me play. These camps are huge for me because I can get exposure to teams that would never come up and see me play, especially ones I would want to play for."

Torres is a 6'6" tight end, who has been attending some of the camps run by the biggest schools in the country, including Notre Dame, Michigan , and Ohio State. Torres was at Ohio State camp in mid-June and said, "It’s been going real well. I haven’t talking to many coaches before this, but after OSU I’ve been talking to a few more coaches and teams. It’s been a good experience, and I’m glad to be talking to teams like Ohio State.”

Mishawaka is not in typical IU football territory, but when it comes to the Hoosiers Torres had this to say about what getting an IU offer would mean, "That would mean a lot….. that would be awesome. I’ve gotten a few things from them like recruiting surveys, but that would be awesome to get an offer from a school like Indiana”

As far as on the field, Torres has a great body type for the tight end position and when asked about who he would compare himself to he replied, "there’s so many tight ends out there. But I’m like a mix of Gronkowski and like Tony Gonzalez. I have the size, but not the speed like Gronk, but I do think I have the athleticism.”

In his highlight tape below you can see how physical he can be. He still has a season left in high school and he still has business to finish. After falling to Center Grove in the State Title game he is “hoping that our team can win state this year. As you know, last year we came up short to Center Grove. My main goal is to win state, and I would also like to get more exposure throughout the season, and become a better player.”

Currently Torres does not have any offers, but is drawing the most interest from Ohio State and Michigan State.
