Per NBC Sports, Fernando claims he's not going.
@bar-down yeah I think he’ll go because his practices begin a week later
people are already trying to make it political too. Both sides. I'm trying to explain to people that Fernando is just that locked in. It has nothing to do with politics.Per NBC Sports, Fernando claims he's not going.
If he really wants to focus on football (I get it), Fernando needs his agent or lawyer to craft a statement thanking Trump for the invite…

I wholeheartedly agree. I think Fernando legitimately wants to work hard and get off on the right foot. Though I'm sure the Raiders organization would totally understand, I can see where he's coming from. This is sort of like getting hired at your dream job and then telling them that you can't make some of the onboarding because you just got invited on a guys' trip.

This would probably be a smart move. That said, regardless of whether a thank you statement happens, I think Trump will take a slight swipe at him online for missing a once in a lifetime event - or something along those lines.
Something like, "We had the national championship Indiana Hoosiers at the White House today, but unfortunately their star quarterback Fernando Mendoza chose to stay away (even though OTAs don't start until next week!) Too bad he missed out on a chance to see the wonderfully decorated White House and meet everyone's favorite president. Thank you for your attention to this matter."
Too true. Trump loves to talk. Fernando needs to get him on the horn and have a great convo.

I would have bet even money that we would've gotten a "University of Indiana". Glad that didn't happen.
Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.
