You’re wrong on immigration. Even CNNs polling found 60% of Americans want ALL illegal immigrants deported. They don’t care if they’re good people, bad people, committed a crime or not.
I think what a lot of Americans are against is what we're seeing in real time with ICE and the way they go about their business. That is hugely unpopular.
@ohio-guy the majority of voters preferred Trump over left policies. 88 percent of counties increased. I don’t believe that has changed. People don’t want dei crt trannies defund open borders. The left policies are proven losers in practice and in elections.
You are right that people don't want violent criminal immigrants being released back on the streets and were also in favor of a much stricter immigration / deportation policy, but they also didn't want an armed, masked, secret police force yoinking the guys sitting outside of Home Depot who were actually trying to be beneficial members of society.
They wanted reduced government spending (the concept of DOGE was / is a winning policy for Republicans), but they didn't want tariffs / 1%er tax breaks. The Democrats are also currently winning the shutdown messaging / narrative.
The people wanted a leader that would pwn the libs / far left, but the blatant lying about the state of the economy (it's the best evah!!!!), the lousy imaging of doing unnecessary renovations to the WH (especially during a government shutdown), the limiting / threatening of media members who don't tow the line, and the president pretty much declaring that he can do whatever he wants regardless of the other two branches of government, all of it adds up to an administration that seems more in it for themselves than trying to make life better for Republicans.
The people wanted the pendulum to swing back to the right, but right now, this administration is overshooting.
I know that you believe that all of these warts are still better than the alternative, but there can come a point where the cure is worse than the disease. You don't think that we've gotten there yet, but for some Republicans I know, that line has already been crossed.
If this admin can get prices / wages going in the right direction, there is still a chance that Republicans will be willing to continue putting up with the bad stuff for the "greater good". Otherwise, you're going to get a lot of no-shows on election day in 3 years, especially since Trump himself will no longer be on the ballot.
I am the exact opposite. I want mass deportations, closed borders, and very very little immigration. I'm indifferent on tariffs. We do need to reshore and it collects a good amount of revenue. I do not want Congress to fold to Democrats on the closing of the government and holding everyone hostage. They need to start laying off 10,000+ people every week and see if that changed Democrats minds . If it doesn't end the filibuster and say you had to do it to feed the starving (technically overweight) people. The point is sell it. The last time Trump went soft (Covid) and listened to the establishment he got his a#% voted out of office. If they do fold, they need to triple down on immigration.

i think that is easier said than done. tariffs won't help. dumping subsidies will make health insurance more for many thereby piling on. lot of time left but today i think pubs are in trouble.
You know what the Dems response will be to combat inflation if they ever get back in power? It won't be lowering energy costs, deporting illegals which lowers demand, or cutting spending. It will be printing trillions and sending out more stimy checks. Be careful what you wish for.

Illegal immigration yes. The problem is, the lovely ICE folks are deporting anybody they can get their hands on. Theres myriads of cases where people have come here on work visas, have been in process or renewing them, following all of the correct procedures, but are still being zip-tied and put on a plane.
There's also a question about tactics and overstepping their authority. Videos like this one where an ICE vehicle gets into a car accident (and offhand it appears that the ICE vehicle is the one that caused the accident) and then they drag an American citizen out of her car and arrest her. These kinds of things are happening all over and it oversteps what the American people wanted.
Even if the accident was her fault, you call the cops and get it sorted. You dont violently remove her from her car and handcuff her.

The fact that people are still defending ICE proves that it doesn't matter to them if the immigrants are here legally or illegally. The bigots in MAGA want them gone regardless.
you may be right. The Dems have lost their Keynesian way the past decade. Which is sad. However, Trump hasn't done those things either, outside of deporting illegals(which Obama did more of and Biden, despite his fuck ups the first two years, did as well). If this admin can get prices / wages going in the right direction, there is still a chance that Republicans will be willing to continue putting up with the bad stuff for the “greater good”.

Raise taxes and cut spending. Inflation goes down. Neither side is willing to do either anymore.

He's done a lot to bring energy costs down. It doesn't happen overnight as you know.

What specifically has he done?

For one, he declared a national energy emergency on January 20th and revoked all the Biden global warming nonsense. Did a lot for coal and oil as well.

Foxnews doesn't think he's bringing prices down.
@boogie there are things he can do for energy. But consumer products what could he possibly do. His goal should have been to not make them worse. After the Biden disaster just let things calm down. Focus on the border. Energy. And not do tariffs
