@snarlcakes i have no doubt i'd have been a general.  if they had comfier clothes.  i actually played the citadel in a spring game one year.  we were up 12-0 with a minute left and this guy absolutely wiped me out.  i jumped up YOU STUPID FUCK THERE'S A MINUTE LEFT WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING YOU MORON!!!!!!!!!!!!!  his response:  "yes it's not over."  i would have needed an adjustment to that attitude

because the economy has improved

Has it? Maybe. Sure. Probably. Does it matter? No. I'm objectively better off right now than I've ever been in my entire life. I have a retirement account I'm pumping up like crazy, and a checking account overflowing with disposable income that I don't actually use because I don't know what to do with it. And yet, still, today I went to the grocery store and absolutely noticed the fuck out of the fact that I paid almost four fucking dollars for a tiny bag of shredded cheese that used to cost $1.79. It doesn't matter that I could afford it. The sticker shock is still real.

And lots of people don't have that cash cushion I have. I have zero kids. Zero summer camps to pay for. Zero soccer cleats to buy. Some of us have legit alimony and child support that we have to pay for because we didn't want to ruin it with a hottie by putting some rubber between us. Those people are really hurting. Crab legs? Out of the question this week. Better save up for next.

Again, your indicators mean shit. "The fundamentals of the economy are strong." LOL. How has that worked out in the past? Voters vote. Indicators don't. End of story.

The sticker shock has been going on for 6 years now.  It's less of a sticker shock today than it was in 23 and 24....aka it's gotten better.  Once again if Democrats sweep easily, you're more right than myself.  If they don't, the great cakes is more right.  And no need to praise me, I'll praise myself.

There is talk in threads about how Trump's policies are what people want. Yet polling shows immigration and tariffs have him underwater. Now the cattle growers in TX and OK are saying they are losing money because ICE has taken their employees.

Sounds like LePage saying they were not supposed to take one of his family members.

Collins is ahead in Maine but Talarico is going to win Texas? I call bullshit. Paxton is not a great candidate but come on. The GOP should be spending money in Michigan and Maine…not Texas and Florida

@arthur-dent little more nuanced. People didn’t want ten million unvetted immigrants flooding the country so Dems can have voters for their idiocy.  But they also dont want ice trucks rolling up to their kids’ schools deporting families.  Or showing up here to the Mexican league that has been around for decades and we’ve all played in to check guys we’ve played with forever which happened.  The left have a percentage of truly mentally insane people but after you back them out most Americans just want normal stuff.  Closed borders. Lawful immigration.  Paths to allow people who contribute without criminal records to stay.  It’s shocking how terrible our politicians are from Trump to Biden to AOC to Harris to Trump again.

Tariffs.  The only problems my businesses have had were created by gov.  Government is a terrible terrible thing at this point and we should all vote for the party that wants drastically less. All gov does is screw things up. Our postal service here is barely functioning.  No one in my company is allowed to use it. Just pay for fed ex.  I told our secretary only FedEx. Never usps.  Ever.

Here are some food items up over the 2% target which probably accounts for more than we think:

There’s another cost factor that somehow seems to get overlooked, but there’s no doubt that consumers feel it and feel it deeply.

I had to buy a new air-conditioning system for my condominium a couple years back. Before Covid, the price was around three to $4000. I had to pay about 10,000.

my point is, there are often spikes in the price of some item for whatever reason and then the price never goes back down to the previous level.

I absolutely love all the self-deluded Republicans in this thread thinking this is about ideology or principle. This is entirely about the cost of living.
1. A good friend, owns his own business, rural Indiana that works several states. Trump voter. He’s pissed and he’s going to vote Democrat because of policies that are costing his business. He couldn’t care less about any other issues.

2. Pushing back on your assertion about ideology or principle, you’re overlooking an underlying factor. Ideology or principle can though not always set the default political leaning. The question then becomes are the costs enough to override that default setting?

this is what i screamed about the stupid democrats.  that's exactly right.  when biden gave away all the free cheese and inflation spiked to 9 percent i screamed that between that and covid idiocy dems destroyed the american dream for tens of millions.  i know how companies work.  i don't know how to work a company but i know how they work.  once prices go up it's baked in.  that's it.  we're stuck with the new elevated price.  so yes the RATE subsides but that's the rate not the new price.

the last two administrations have really fucked the american people.  and look who is coming in for more. the exact same politicians.  it's disgusting.

Vote like @MrBing. Vote ‘em all out!

Ultimately, We the People can enforce term limits by simply voting them all out. Rinse and repeat.

@hhlurker no Dems would have amended pass through qualified income etc.  never vote for a Dem. For anything today.  They are mentally insane people

Their plan to fight inflation is to print more money and send out more stimulus checks.  Not kidding.

So we're getting money no matter who wins?

Trumps offering 5K... how much are the Dems dangling?

My vote can be bought.

If you renounce your citizenship & pose as an illegal it’s virtually limitless…

Where are all these illegals that are rolling in the money, because I haven't seen any around here, since it's limitless.

How much is sent out of the country in remittances?

People didn’t want ten million unvetted immigrants flooding the country so Dems can have voters for their idiocy.

So we have proof of ten million undocumented immigrants voting in elections? But what you are saying is that people want common-sense reform. I've shown, many times, what the law is. No one has read it and said, "That isn't the law." I've suggested we alter the law. I've made suggestions onto how we alter it for people seeking refuge. I will note at this point the Republicans have no altered one iota of the actual law.

Any alien who is physically present in the United States or who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United States waters), irrespective of such alien’s status, may apply for asylum in accordance with this section or, where applicable.

...

Subject to subparagraph (D), paragraph (1) shall not apply to an alien unless the alien demonstrates by clear and convincing evidence that the application has been filed within 1 year after the date of the alien’s arrival in the United States.

So they do NOT have to enter at a designated port of arrival, and they have up to a year to actually apply. Hmm, sounds like there's the problem. Am I wrong? Look at the link above if you don't believe my copy-and-paste.

So the answer is to change that. First, above, they MUST be physically present. Change that. Second, make them apply at ports of entry upon entry. Everyone thinks for unknown reasons, I am an open-borders guy because they refuse to actually read the posts. We have a law; we are a "nation of laws, not men." It is all very easy, pass new laws.

And geez, am I mad at you. I had to go watch, geez, this is hard to say, soccer today. Years of therapy will need to follow. I can't unsee what I saw. My 4-year-old granddaughter played in Westfield. On the good side, no one fell down screaming in agony and clutching a hamstring just to get up and run as if nothing happened two minutes later. The game was rugby meets Calvinball. Rugby because many aged 4-6 cannot kick the ball very far so everyone else stands packed together 2 feet away. Calvinball because there might be rules, but if so, no one knows. Her best friend's dad played pro ball so her best friend wanted to play, so she wanted to. I hope she will switch to basketball next year, a true American sport (quiet Mark, don't take this from me or so help me I will get Trump to put a tariff on Canada).

Seriously though, I coached 6-8-year-old basketball for many years. I really thought I understood the term "herding cats," but the truth is, I had no idea. Kudos to the coaches for trying; it has to be frustrating.

ten million don't need to vote. 1 more needs to vote.

https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/national-media-release/trump-administration-delivers-15-straight-months-zero-releases

https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2024/02/11/trump-biden-immigration-border-compared/

i agree with many of your reforms, clearly.  but what the dems did was intentional.  they openeed the border. no guardrails.  they want to increase people of color, desperate, etc because they know that's how they can get more votes.  a white male, married, two kids, building a business, hopes to buy a boat for the lake, wants nothing to do with the dem party.  dems appeal to the freaks, misfits, and desperates at this point.  no normal productive person with an iq above 70 wants to be a dem outside of goofs at universities and in hollywood.

your granddaughter already possesses something special inside of her.  what's the right word for it.  hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  let's call it: discernment.  knowing all the opportunities that exist for youth entertainment she already recognized that only one sport is "beautiful."  herd ball is inevitable.  it's tantamount to the overwhelming feeling of opening a D&D box for the first time and looking at the instructions.  things will get sorted out in time.  i've coached and played at westfield.  outstanding facility.  she's lucky!  my first game had yellow chipped paint steel poles for goal frames, a pitcher's mound in the left midfield, and random pieces of glass on the dirt field that listed.
