@aloha-hoosier you didn't answer my question.

I explained why people would pay for him to speak. The reason he was paid to write books is because his publishers profited from it. What else do you want to learn?

No thanks.  Your refusal to answer the question lets me know I am right.  I just wanted to see if you would take that silly of a position.  Sort of proud of you for resisting.

I did get a good chuckle of your Grant comparison.   I'm sure Obama's stories of being a community organizer in the suburbs of Chicago and smoking pot in his youth are in just as much demand as Grant's retelling of his Civil War Experience🤣🤣🤣

Honestly, Grant’s Memoirs is one of my least favorite reads ever. 200 pages of nonsense before you even get to the Civil War. Would not recommend.

I also haven't read it. I've got over a thousand books in my library and probably a fifth are on the Civil War, but nothing from Grant. I do have his biography and it's excellent.

@aloha-hoosier here is the question again. You think Obama made all of his money from speaking fees and books and none of the parties expect anything in return?

Of course. As I and others have already stated, the guy was already out of office. What they expected in return was profits and probably some publicity. That is not corruption. You don't understand what corruption is?

No, we disagree on reality.  You think reality is Obama 70x his wealth because people just wanted to hear him speak or read about him without strings attached.

I think reality is he 70x his wealth and became one of the wealthiest people on planet earth is because of pay for play....aka corruption.

I can't help it that you don't know what corruption is or WTF you're talking about. Go back to bitcoin, you love that and seem to know something about it and very little else, but no one else gives AF.

@snarlcakes, I might be able to get you a speaking gig on Bitcoin if you're interested. Probably won't pay much, honestly you might have to pay them, but you have to start somewhere.

By the way, this is what CO was alluding to earlier and where you struggle.  It's not dumb to think a politician who leaves office and becomes extremely wealthy without producing anything of value (besides books/speaking) might have gained some of that wealth through pay to play bullsh#t.

To be fair, you could be right that Obama made all his wealth fair square without any strings attached and never did any favors for his fans/consumers.

Pay me in sats and I might.  Don't worry I organized the annual potluck community gathering when I was younger and smoked some pot  There should be plenty of demand to hear me speak.

Being a young pothead that became a wealthy somebody would make you a better speaking commodity. Assuming you’re a decent speaker, of course. Let me know when you become a wealthy somebody.

@twenty in short I think there has been significant movement between the parties. Myself as an example.  Actually my whole family.  All left the Dem party.  Asphalt guys. Roofers. Electricians.  They all love Trump.  But they were Clinton guys. They’ve never voted pub until Trump.  I voted Clinton Clinton Obama Obama no vote Biden Trump

I've spent my entire life with nothing but huge group of friends and family made up of Republicans. I'm talking Republicans going back to the 50s and Ike, Young Republicans in college, etc, generation after generation...None of these people ever left reliably and religiously voting for Republicans. You might as well have announced you loved communism if you claimed to vote for a Democrat. Nothing has changed in that group of the population, they don't really like Trump but guarantee they all voted for him.

Basically all either Drs, business owners, bankers, corporate types. All going to college going way, way back. My dad was at IU in the 1950s.

Wealthiest people on the planet? Lol. Because he's made $50m or something? I know people in Indy you've never heard of that have more than that. Trump family made $1.4B off of a shit coin. Maybe you're bad at math, but that's 30x Obama's book and Netflix money.

$50m, or $70m, or wherever he's made with media deals is a good chunk, but don't act like it's more than it is.

@big-ryan lol...all administrations are pay to play.  That's how governments work and why they're corrupt.  Obama hasn't created sh#t his entire life and his net worth is up 70x since he took office.  And Trump can't even beat a Vanguard mutual fund with his corruption.  The only unique thing about Trump's corruption is he might end up with the lowest ROI.

Forbes estimates Trump’s net worth at $6 billion, up from $2.3 billion in 2024

According to google someone with a net worth of $70 million sits in the top .01% to .005% of the wealth distribution, both in the United States and globally.  Stop being shooter.  Obama is one of the wealthiest people on the planet.

Also, I know you're not the brightest bulb, but running 4 billion to 6 billion is a lot easier than 1 million to 70.

Forbes, a primary source for tracking Trump’s wealth over decades, estimated his net worth at $3.7 billion in its 2016 list (released around October 2016, before the election).

If you were a mega- democrat donor, and you wanted to buy influence who ya gonna call?  Obama!

You would be wasting money on any other Democrat.
