@big-ryan lol...all administrations are pay to play.  That's how governments work and why they're corrupt.  Obama hasn't created sh#t his entire life and his net worth is up 70x since he took office.  And Trump can't even beat a Vanguard mutual fund with his corruption.  The only unique thing about Trump's corruption is he might end up with the lowest ROI.

How Obama, who i didn’t vote for like Murt did, made his money is public record and had nothing to do with corruption. In fact, corruption wasn’t a feature of his administration. Misguided policies were, but not corruption.

What value has Obama produced to 70x his money?  What company has he started that produced goods and services that Aloha used?

Irrelevant. He made his money from writing books and public speaking. I haven’t bought or read any of his books, but many have. That’s not corruption.

No, it's not irrelevant.  It clearly spells out pay to play.  People aren't paying large sums of money because Obama is all of a sudden a great book writer or speaker. They do so they can have access or more influence on future government monies and policies.  It's technically legal, but it's immoral and corrupt as f#ck.

I believe Penguin made out well on the 65 mil Obama’s book deal. Which is the bulk of their net worth. But yes, it is profiting from the office, the same way people investing in your family shitcoin or PE firm is.

Wrong. They made their money once out of office. More recent Presidents write autobiographies prior to election - it’s basically part of their campaign. None of that is pay for play corruption. Making money when in office is a direct link to corruption and Trump is all in on that.

@aloha-hoosier just to be clear. You think Obama made all of his money from speaking fees and books and none of the parties expect anything in return?

Ex-presidents are able to capitalize on their celebrity status and have been doing so for decades.  If I buy an ex-president's book or watch a show for which he's an EP, he still has no fucking idea who I am and I'm obviously not buying influence.  You don't know what pay-to-play means.

These kinds of questions are among the reasons I think way too many people on this board are unserious or dumb. FORMER President Obama made money from speaking for the reason all paid speakers make money. Those who paid wanted more people to pay for the event, entertain the audience of their event, publicity, etc. If you ever become a big wig, you can hire a paid speaker yourself. Motivational Speakers for Events & Conferences | WWSG I've paid for speakers for events while I was in my last job as Chief Operations Officer, but I couldn't have afforded Obama, or GWB, or Clinton, but I could have afforded you, I'm sure. 😉

It's just logically obvious. I could have saved my time responding if I had read your post first.

@aloha-hoosier you didn't answer my question.

I explained why people would pay for him to speak. The reason he was paid to write books is because his publishers profited from it. What else do you want to learn?

What can he offer in return?

No thanks.  Your refusal to answer the question lets me know I am right.  I just wanted to see if you would take that silly of a position.  Sort of proud of you for resisting.

I did get a good chuckle of your Grant comparison.   I'm sure Obama's stories of being a community organizer in the suburbs of Chicago and smoking pot in his youth are in just as much demand as Grant's retelling of his Civil War Experience🤣🤣🤣

Advice on being a community organize and where to buy the best pot.

Honestly, Grant’s Memoirs is one of my least favorite reads ever. 200 pages of nonsense before you even get to the Civil War. Would not recommend.

Noted.  I saw the History Channel series on him and read the Battle Cry of Freedom. I'm good on the Civil War.

Hilarious! I didn't refuse to answer your question. I provided more information than you asked for and what in the world do you think you were right about? You weren't right about anything at all. I'm frankly confused as to why you'd think you were.

I'm no fan of Obama, but he was a very popular President, unlike our current President. Of course, he was going to sell a ton of books. He went to school in the most expensive and prestigious school in Hawaii, Punahou. He was two years ahead of my wife and a year behind my brother-in-law. I asked friends of theirs at a Punahou reunion what the thought about him and a guy said, "he was a dope smoking jock." I think that was right. Although I didn't like him, he was quite articulate and it doesn't surprise me he'd make a lot of money writing books and speechifying. Those are apparently his skills.

I haven't bought his books, but I also didn't buy Grant's. I'm a fan of General Grant, but I heard his book wasn't very good.
