I think this argument is well overblown. Something like 90% of GWB voters surviving are still Trump voters today. The changes are more on the edges, the Dems have gotten a bump from white suburban college educated, and the GOP has gotten a bump from rural and blue collar. But we're talking like 10-15% shifts, at most. It's more that the opinions on certain issues have changed within the same actual voting bloc. Not really that many party switchers.
