My definition of "virtue signaling" is to express a moral view to sound good without taking real action to fix the problem.

Seems to me Fauci offered all kinds of solutions to solve problems associated with Covid.

The question to be debated, in my view, is whether the solutions offered by Fauci helped or hindered.

Finally, why not have a discussion about what worked and didn't work as we will undoubtedly face another epidemic?

That is the correct take.

For some reason, a large faction on the right has decided Fauci represents some sort of nebulous evil. They want him hurt, jailed, dead, whatever, and they've never been able to adequately explain why. It's a purely emotional response.

Everything everyone hated about the Covid response -- whether it was inadequate, proper, or over the top -- has been blamed on Fauci, and the 20-20 hindsight highlighting the response's shortcomings has been turned into either incompetency or malfeasance.

What did Fauci represent ?  For reasons that are not altogether clear, the public, led by the media and pundits, saw Fauci as the guru on all things Covid. As we now know, that status was neither earned nor deserved. That is why I said he was a very successful bureaucrat.

@hurryinghoosiers no you gobbled up that info like the useful idiot you are.  fools continued to push that stuff.  we knew who was at risk.  who was vulnerable.  who needed to be protected and what wasn't risky.  yet the lunatic left, you, continued to push garbage protocols to bleat, to assert control, to virtue signal.  no different than blm.  same illusory bullshit imposed on the public

My daughter goes to school with a girl who's dad died of COVID in 2020, he was in his early 40s, our girls were in preschool at the time. I don't know the details of his health situation, other than he was a normal dad and then he was gone. Shit happens and he left 3 kids behind. Was not easy decisions to make back during that first year.

@aloha-hoosier

Private course?

public parks, playgrounds, skate parks, and golf courses were closed all over the country.

I think you have to blame your local dumbass health officials for that one. Golf courses and parks never really closed around here. Our club was closed for about 1 month but started allowing play on May 1, 2020. We played public courses in Carmel during April, as the Hamilton county health dept never closed courses.

I have no idea how other states operated, but in Indiana it was the county level health department that made all the calls, including schools.

Our golf league never missed a week.  We had to leave the pin in and had to wear a mask in the clubhouse, but that was about it.

@twenty I can forgive a lot that first year. Hell ken snow died at 50. Probably the best soccer player iu ever had.  But in 2022 my kid was masked up at school and it was nothing more than our woke execs virtue signal

@spartans9312 the best was how the left went on and on with all the Fauci bs distancing masks then the blm riots hit and they were packed in like sardines and it was suddenly okay.   @hurryinghoosiers blinkards just stacking virtue signals

  • @boogie the risk factors to kids etc were known. The extended stay was a lefty virtue signal. There was no reason for it. Masks same at school. Then of course blm shot oh wow they’re packed in like sardines but we aren’t seeing spikes. It’s so weird.
25 years as a Dem and I don’t even to see the name today. If it has a D it’s an immediate no.

I do have a serious question for all the board "experts." I really don't know the answer, and I do apologize if this was already covered.

Back in March of 2020, what would have happened if everyone had masked correctly, complied with social distancing recommendations, then gotten the Warp Speed vax when it came out?  Let's assume "everyone" means as close to 100% as possible, and let's leave out claims that the vax would have killed as many people as it saved.

@boogie comparative. Most those decisions are made at the county level. It was 22 and kids were in masks at school. Fortunately. Our senator Eric Schmitt was the AG and sued the districts. Our county exec is a fauci. I have little doubt he’d still have kids in masks.  The election is Tuesday and I still see the purple haired in masks on their way to the library to vote for Cori bush.

you can’t fix Dems at this point. They’re cooked mentally
