how many trillions are we in debt? we have a national emergency. that’s not a debate. we’re freaking going broke.

Yet the [MAGA] Republican Congress passed the BBB which increases the debt by $4 Trillion over 10 years on top of the Trillions already built in. Our party wouldn’t do that if they thought debt was a national emergency, would they?

Probably should get rid of the tariffs that are going to bring in an extra 600 Billion in revenues this year.

If they did they could even claim they were cutting taxes.

@aloha-hoosier no they didn't.

Yes, they did. MAGAs aren’t fiscally conservative Republicans.

You think the deficit is going to be less this fiscal year or next? No chance.

As I’m sure you’re aware, the figure you cite, based on CBO analysis is on pace to underestimate tariff revenue to the tune of trillions. Which is an objection the Trump team raised when the bill was passed but was ignored.

@aloha-hoosier nope.  You read a prediction, Aloha.  That's it.  The same people also said Trump's tax cuts during his 1st term would increase the deficit  by 1.5 trillionish over 10 years.  However, tax revenues went up as a percentage of GDP afterwards.

The tariffs are nearly all a tax on Americans and as I’ve said from the beginning, and the courts so far agree, the President doesn’t have the authority to levy them. That power lies with Congress. There is nothing fiscally conservative within the MAGA movement.

Impressive. You are simultaneously arguing the constitutionality of the tariffs, the merit of the tariffs, while confoundedly complaining about the deficit.

You are quite the little ball of contradictory confusion.

There is nothing confusing about supporting the Constitution.

But how much did they increase the deficit?

@unclemark a bunch.  It was on the spending side though.  Theoretically, it would have been higher if we didn't pass the Trump tax cuts.

@snarlcakes I don’t know.  I haven’t read any of it.  I’m just commenting on the role of courts
