@aloha-hoosier Trump has been the most fiscally responsible President in my lifetime during his 2nd term, so far. Those are the facts🤷🏻♂️
@mcm666 gotcha. I guess I didn't make my point well. I wasn't arguing the courts shouldn't follow the law. President's have the ability to implement tariffs, correct? And we're absolutely in an emergency. I think it's cut and dry and the Supreme Court will rule in Trump's favor.
LOL!@aloha-hoosier Trump has been the most fiscally responsible President in my lifetime during his 2nd term, so far. Those are the facts🤷🏻♂️
@aloha-hoosier exactly. The Donald. Who would have predicted it? Life comes at you fast.
And we’re absolutely in an emergency.
What threat does an island only inhabited by penguins present.
A more real threat is India's Modi suddenly being wooed by India. Pushing those two nations together is in the long run very bad.
Yeah, this Court has yet to rein in Trump in any meaningful way.
Because the never Trumpers always make the case about Trump, not about the office of President. SCOTUS gets it right.

India’s Modi has always gotten along with India.
@arthur-dent no we're not going to agree on that. If we're broke, don't have a middle class and unable to make our own weapons, we're f#cked. The weaker we get the more likely India, S. Korea, Japan, and everyone else will turn to China.
I never saw this coming, but that’s a well-reasoned opinion. This should be fun going forward.
The opinion focuses on the authority to impose tariffs. The statute is about the president’s authority to meet an emergency. The Supreme Court will focus on the President’s emergency authority. I think the emergency must be a given.
Executive emergency authority is broad and deep. I think the tariffs are upheld.
I miss the conservative Republican COH who opposed the egregious expansion of Executive power. Have you seen him lately? I haven’t.I never saw this coming, but that’s a well-reasoned opinion. This should be fun going forward.

Stakes? An old fashioned at the bar of the winner's choosing?@bradstevens I'll take the other side of the bet.
Untrue. Garcia case, for example.@bradstevens I'll take the other side of the bet.

I can’t figure out which side of this case is the conservative one.
@stollcpa you can also add deindustrialization to the list of emergencies as well
Words have meanings that we don't get to change because of our political beliefs or difficulty in passing what we want in Congress. The word "emergency" contains two components that are not present in your examples--unexpectedness and the need for immediate action:
