@unclemark is this your way of saying you agree with me? Because I'll take it 😀
@bradstevens I'll take the other side of the bet.
Yeah, this Court has yet to rein in Trump in any meaningful way.
Of course they haven’t he’s been right on all of it…

This Court will never vote to limit Trump. Unitary executive, executive prerogative, national security, blah blah blah. So yeah, on this one we agree -- the Supremes will knuckle under.
@unclemark the court is right to leave it alone. Congress could rein him in, but they have chosen not to.

Which will be their rationale.

Which they could have said with student loans and didn't.
@unclemark as they should. Courts (aka unelected people) shouldn't overrule the will of the people in a Democracy.

Topeka would agree.

they should follow the law brother. even if not one person supports it. the vagaries of public sentiment change and we have mechanisms (congress) to change it to reflect same. courts should be unmoved by public sentiment
@mcm666 the President has the ability to implement tariffs. Trump did it his first term. Biden did it during his term. And now the courts should stop Trump, why? Because some people, major companies, and/or other country leaders don't get to take advantage of the global financial system ? I don't give two shits. F#ck them. If they're upset about it they need to pay off more members of congress.

Again, the court didn't do that with student loans, did they?

Don’t you think trade policy & negotiations with other countries is a little different animal than domestic welfare programs?
@mcm666 I am curious, Murt. What law is he breaking now that wasn't being broken in 2018-24?
@oneeyedundertaker but both have an "emergency" exception. Why would that be different?
I think they got it right with loans. I think the appeals court got it right here. If we can just make up emergency situations, why have Congress at all.
how many trillions are we in debt? we have a national emergency. that’s not a debate. we’re freaking going broke.
Yet the [MAGA] Republican Congress passed the BBB which increases the debt by $4 Trillion over 10 years on top of the Trillions already built in. Our party wouldn’t do that if they thought debt was a national emergency, would they?
